Sulley Muntari signs new AC Milan deal

Sulley Muntari joined AC Milan from Inter Milan in 2012 .

AC Milan's plans for the 2014-15 season have been boosted by the news that midfielder Sulley Muntari has signed a new two-year contract with the club.

De Jong is happy to stay at AC Milan

The former Udinese, Portsmouth, Sunderland and Inter Milan player, who is currently representing Ghana at the World Cup, has added an extra year to his previous deal in a move which confirms he has a role to play under new coach Filippo Inzaghi.

Milan confirmed the news via a statement on their official website on Wednesday.

"AC Milan announces that Sulley Muntari has renewed his contract to June 30, 2016," the statement read.

The Rossoneri have already signed former Paris Saint-Germain duo Alex and Jeremy Menez on free transfers since Inzaghi was confirmed as the club's new coach on a two-year deal.

The ex-Milan player replaced Clarence Seedorf, who was relieved of his duties earlier this month.

Muntari moved to Milan from their city rivals Inter in 2012 and has gone on to make a total of 66 appearances for the club.

The 29-year-old played the full 90 minutes of Ghana's 2-1 World Cup defeat to United States on Monday.
