Influential midfielder Mohamed Diame is moving closer to full fitness after his long-term knee problem, but will not be ready to face Villa.

Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva is set for a spell on the sidelines with a thigh injury. However, forwards Raheem Sterling and Philippe Coutinho have recovered from knocks from the weekend Merseyside derby. Adam Lallana has also returned to the squad after missing Saturday's game while striker Daniel Sturridge is edging closer to his first start after two substitute appearances since returning from a long lay-off.
