Few goals in England vs. Slovakia, Julian Draxler to score for Germany

Spain obliged for this column on Saturday evening as they beat Italy 3-0 and hopefully this week's selections can drive us towards profitability.

Running total: -£31.74

The Home Banker

The bookmakers were not impressed by England's 4-0 win over Malta on Friday and as a result they have been eased across the board to beat Slovakia at Wembley.

Gareth Southgate's men eventually ran out easy winners but for the most part it wasn't pretty against a side who are ranked lower than Bangladesh by FIFA. One bright spot was Harry Kane, who scored twice and looked a threat for England, who currently top their group by two points from Slovakia.

The visitors come into this on the back of some solid form, having won their last five in Group F. The last time the teams met it needed an injury-time winner from Adam Lallana to give England a 1-0 win and Monday's game could be another close run thing. Both teams are well organised defensively and a Wembley goalfest looks unlikely under the circumstances.

Selection: £5 on Under 2.5 goals at 17/20 with bet365.

The Tasty Treble

Republic of Ireland face a must-win clash against Serbia on Tuesday knowing anything less than three points could consign them to the lottery of a World Cup playoff. Martin O'Neill's men are unbeaten in Group D but trail Serbia by two points now with just three matches to play. There should be a cracking atmosphere in Dublin and the hosts look a big price at 19/10 with bet365 for the win.

Finland have struggled throughout this qualifying campaign but recorded a brilliant 1-0 win over Iceland in Group I and they can follow that up with victory over rock bottom Kosovo. Throw in Austria to get back to winning ways at home to Georgia and you have a treble paying better than 13/2.

Selection: £2 on treble at 6.73/1 with bet365.

The Euro Wager

PSG star Julian Draxler looks set to start for Germany against Norway on Tuesday and the man named Player of the Tournament at the recent Confederations Cup looks a decent price at 5/1 to score first.

Selection: £2 on Draxler to score first at 5/1 with bet365

The Wild-Card Tip

Argentina were held 0-0 by Uruguay in their last match and as a result their Russia 2018 hopes hang by a thread. They sit fifth in South American qualifying with only the top four teams certain of a World Cup berth. Argentina will hope Lionel Messi can help them past Venezuela and Barcelona's little genius could be worth siding with in the scorecast stakes, with a 3-0 result the preference.

Selection: Messi to score first and Argentina to win 3-0 at 10/1 with bet365.

Bookie Basher

Chile suffered a shocking 3-0 reverse in Santiago as Paraguay won there for the first time since 2007 recently and La Roja look vulnerable again away to Bolivia this week. Back in March, Bolivia recorded a 2-0 home win against Argentina so you have to wonder whether they should really be as big as 15/4 to win at home?

Selection: £1 on Bolivia to win at 15/4 with bet365.
