The Home Banker
When Liverpool and Everton last met on Dec. 10 the Toffees somehow came away with a point despite being battered for much of the game. The Merseyside giants lock horns again on Friday and on current form it's hard to look beyond a Liverpool win. Two draws and two defeats for Everton over Christmas suggests Sam Allardyce has yet to find the right balance while over the same period Liverpool won three times and drew once, scoring 12 goals in the process. Mohamed Salah, Liverpool's player of the season so far, is a doubt but whether he features or not they have enough attacking options to do the business against an Everton side who have been struggling recently. Defensively, however, the Reds are still prone to the odd lapse in concentration so the pick here is to back a Liverpool win and both teams to score at Anfield, where the atmosphere should be bouncing.
The Tasty Treble
Middlesbrough (17/20) are making hard work of life in the Championship but look a solid shout to beat north east rivals Sunderland in the FA Cup on Saturday. The Black Cats have endured a miserable time of it this season and find themselves bottom of the Championship. Elsewhere, would it really be a shock if Wolves beat Premier League basement boys Swansea? Wolves are 12 points clear at the top of the Championship and only a monumental choke from here would deny them promotion. The clubs look to be heading in opposite directions and 17/20 on a Wolves win looks very tempting. Add in Liverpool at 11/20 to see off Everton and you have an FA Cup treble that pays almost 4/1 with bet365.
The Euro Wager
Sampdoria have looked pretty solid this season and it's surprising to see them chalked up at odds against to beat bottom club Benevento this weekend. Italian minnows Benevento didn't record their first Serie A win until Dec. 30 when they beat Chievo, and a return of just four points from 19 games tells its own story.
The Wildcard Tip
Mark Hughes finds himself under huge pressure after Stoke's wretched recent run of form and if there is going to be a shock this weekend, it could come in their game with Coventry City. The Sky Blues, who famously won the FA Cup in 1987 after beating Tottenham in a thriller at a sun-drenched Wembley, are a League Two outfit these days but look worth a punt at 7/2 to grab the headlines at the Ricoh Arena.
The Bookie Basher
Fernando Llorente should feature for Tottenham in their clash with AFC Wimbledon on Sunday and is a 7/2 chance to score first at White Hart Lane. It's been a frustrating season so far for the Spaniard playing second fiddle to Harry Kane but he has scored two in his last four for Spurs. On Saturday, in-form Danny Graham is an 11/2 chance to score first for Blackburn against Hull City. Backing Graham and Llorente in a first goal-scorer double looks at tidy bet and pays almost 30/1.
