Manchester City tipped to bounce back, Sergio Aguero to find form
We are all set for another big weekend of Premier League action and it will be interesting to see how Manchester City respond after suffering their first league defeat last Sunday.
The Home Banker
Manchester City finally lost a Premier League match last weekend after ending up on the wrong end of a seven goal thriller against Liverpool at Anfield. However, normal service should be resumed against a Newcastle side who are struggling at the wrong end of the table. A mooted takeover deal has recently collapsed and Rafa Benitez may not now get the funds to strengthen a squad that still contains too many Championship level players. One man who loves playing against the Magpies is Sergio Aguero. The Argentine star has bagged 11 goals in 11 matches against the Toon and with Gabriel Jesus still out injured he looks the most likely first goalscorer on Saturday.
The Tasty Treble
Manchester United look a solid shout at 1/2 to win at Burnley given Jose Mourinho's men are unbeaten in their last five Premier League away matches. During that sequence they've won four, drawn one and scored at least twice on each occasion. Paul Pogba was outstanding against Stoke on Monday and if he is in the mood again United will take some stopping. Leicester have won seven of their last nine home league matches against Watford and having kept clean sheets in their last two at the King Power can surely be trusted at 5/6 to beat a Watford side who have been fairly erratic in recent times. Throw in Tottenham (8/13) to win at a Southampton side they drubbed 5-2 on Boxing Day and you have a treble paying almost 7/2.
The Euro Wager
The game of the weekend in France sees leaders Paris Saint-Germain head to second-place Lyon on Sunday. Neymar scored four as PSG won 8-0 against Dijon in midweek as Unai Emery's team canter towards yet another Ligue 1 title. Lyon should keep things far more respectable than Dijon could manage but such is the quality of this PSG side you simply cannot look beyond them here.
The Wildcard Tip
After the anarchy of Wednesday night's FA Cup third round replay against Norwich, Chelsea will be without Alvaro Morata and Pedro when they head to Brighton this Saturday. Both players were sent off during a crazy Cup replay the Blues eventually edged on penalties, though the fact remains that Chelsea have yet to win a football match in 90 minutes in 2018. Brighton are a 9/2 chance to spring a shock at the AMEX and might be worth a flutter given how utterly unconvincing Chelsea have looked in recent weeks.
The Bookie Basher
Aguero only averages a playing time of 59.73 minutes per game against Newcastle United over the course of those 11 appearances, so he looks the man to get with in the first goal-scorer stakes this weekend. If punters are brave enough to pair him with Jamie Vardy to score first against Watford, the double returns at almost 12/1 with bet365. Vardy has been involved in 36 percent of Leicester's Premier League goals this season, scoring nine and assisting two.
