Tottenham to seal FA Cup progress; Barcelona to draw with Valencia
There was heartbreak for the column on Sunday with Harry Kane's last gasp leveller at Anfield scuppering our 5/2 'Home Banker' while Newcastle also foiled a 6/1 treble by somehow hanging on for a draw against Crystal Palace. We are hoping to return to winning ways this week however with our FA Cup and Copa del Rey selections.
Running total: -£38.80
The Home Banker
Newport produced a remarkable performance to hold Tottenham to a 1-1 draw at Rodney Parade, yet the Exiles travel to Wembley in hope rather than expectation for this replay. Spurs were definitely below par first time round but it's hard to make a case for lightening striking twice here. Tottenham, without a trophy since their League Cup win in 2008, can be relied upon to finish the job this time round and 4/7 about them winning this to nil looks an absolute certainty.
Selection: £7 on Tottenham to win to nil at 4/7 with bet365.
The Tasty Treble
A draw was perhaps a fair result when Notts County and Swansea met at Meadow Lane in the fourth round but the Welsh side look a solid call at 1/2 to win this replay. Since that first game the Swans have beaten Arsenal and claimed a point against Leicester so even a much changed side should have too much for the League Two outfit. Millwall too look a bet at 5/4 to see off Rochdale at the second attempt, with a likely fifth round clash against Spurs the prize for the Lions should both the capital's teams progress. Add Sevilla to beat Leganes in the Copa del Rey and you have a rock solid treble with bet365 paying nearly 4/1.
Selection: £2 on the treble at 3.72/1 with bet365.
The Euro Wager
Barcelona head into the second leg of their Copa del Rey semifinal with Valencia with a 1-0 advantage after Luis Suarez popped up with the winner at Camp Nou. There should be a cracking atmosphere at the Mestella, where the draw looks a big runner at 100/30. The Catalan giants are cruising towards another La Liga title but have not looked great away from home on several occasions this season and look set for another tough night against a Valencia side who pushed them all the way in that first leg.
Selection: £3 on the draw at 100/30 with bet365.
The Wildcard Tip
PSG head to Sochaux in the Coupe de France on Tuesday and are almost unbackable at 1/14 to win at the Stade Bonal. A 3-0 win for the Parisian giants is a 7/1 shot though and could be worth a punt. Sochaux may be operating out of Ligue 2 these days but are in good form and should keep things respectable on the night.
Selection: £2 on PSG to win 3-0 at 7/1 with bet365.
The Bookie Basher
Tammy Abraham and Fernando Llorente should both start up front for Swansea and Spurs respectively this week and could be worth backing in a double to score two goals or more against what is clearly inferior opposition. bet365 go better than 20/1 that the pair score a brace or better against Notts County and Newport County and we feel this looks a spot of value.
