Europa League test for Burnley, back Ajax to reach Champions League

A small profit at the weekend for the column as our 13/8 banker landed in the shape of both teams scoring in the game between Manchester City and Huddersfield Town. Our tasty treble is also still live ahead of Liverpool's trip to Crystal Palace.

Looking forward, it's a big week in Europe as Champions League and Europa League qualifying reaches the playoffs stage.

Running total: +£0.71

The Banker

Ajax eased into the playoff round of the Champions League with a 5-2 aggregate win over Standard Liege, and the four-time winners look worth a bet this week at 4/6 to see off Dynamo Kiev in Amsterdam. Klass-Jan Huntelaar has looked sharp for Ajax so far this season and since his return to the club in 2017 the club have won 13 of the 14 games he has scored in. They are brimming with confidence after a solid start to their domestic season and they can claim a priceless win on Wednesday. Indeed, Ajax have not featured in the group stage of the Champions League since 2014-15, so will be desperate to take a lead of some sort over to Kiev.

Selection: £5 on Ajax to win at 4/6 with bet365

The Tasty Treble

In the Europa League, Rangers should have enough quality to get past FC Ufa on Thursday, if indeed the Russian side even make it to Ibrox. FC Ufa could yet be forced to forfeit the first leg due to ongoing visa issues, and such distractions are not ideal ahead of a clash with the Glasgow giants who look good things at 4/5. In the same competition Atalanta (4/9) look banker material at home to FC Copenhagen, while back in the Champions League, PSV Eindhoven have the class to win at Bate Borisov and look a tidy price at even money. Backing all three in a treble pays exactly 16/5 with bet365.

Selection: £2.50 on the treble at 4.2/1 with bet365

The First Goal Flutter

There's a busy week of action in the Championship as in-form Leeds head to Swansea. Both teams are unbeaten, but Leeds have looked fantastic so far under Marcelo Bielsa and are the only side in the division with a one hundred percent record. Kemar Roofe is averaging a goal every 85 minutes Leeds so far this season and could be the man to get with at 5/1 to open the scoring at the Liberty Stadium.

Selection: £2 on Roofe to score first at 5/1 with bet365

The Euro Wager

Brendan Rodgers' Celtic dropped into the Europa League after a 3-2 aggregate defeat by AEK Athens in the Champions League third qualifying round, and look very short at 4/9 to see off Lithuanian champions Sudava. The Hoops have endured a torrid start to the season and may struggle against a side who top their domestic league after 20 matches. For this reason it could pay to back the draw at 3/1 on Thursday night.

Selection: £2 on the draw at 3/1 with bet365

The Wildcard Tip

Burnley are 5/1 underdogs as they head to Greece to take on Olympiakos on Thursday for a match that could be very cagey. An extra-time goal from substitute Jack Cork took Burnley into a final playoff, and Sean Dyche would be delighted to take a 0-0 draw back to Turf Moor. A goalless draw is priced up at 6/1 by bet365 and could be worth a small wager given how the Clarets have set up in Europe so far this season.

Selection: £1 on 0-0 draw at 6/1 with bet365
