Behind the numbers for France-Croatia

Mourinho's record, Messi's first Barcelona brace in lost cause

Manchester City displayed their superiority over their Manchester opponents in Sunday's derby, Barcelona were stunned by Real Betis and Juventus bounced back from their midweek loss to Manchester United. Elsewhere, Dortmund recorded a lead-extending win over Bayern Munich while PSG continue to march on.

Here are the best numbers from this weekend's football:

300

Sunday's Manchester derby marked Jose Mourinho's 300th Premier League game. He may have lost, but he has won more games than any other manager in their first 300 in the competition (currently 189). He is followed by Sir Alex Ferguson (183), Arsene Wenger (180), Rafael Benitez (155) and David Moyes (122). Overall, Mourinho boasts an impressive record - 189 wins, 67 draws, 43 losses, 518 goals scored, 227 goals conceded, three titles and three Manager of the Year awards.

1

Barcelona's 4-3 loss to Real Betis is their first ever defeat in a game - across all competitions - in which Lionel Messi has scored two or more goals.

With the win, Real Betis manager Quique Setien is now the only away manager to win at the Santiago Bernabeu and Camp Nou in La Liga in the last 10 seasons.

10

Barcelona have conceded a goal in 10 consecutive La Liga fixtures for the first time since a run of 12 straight from September-December 1998 under Louis van Gaal.

34

Juventus' return of 34 points in the first 12 Serie A matches this season is the highest ever points tally at this stage in the history of the division. They beat AC Milan 2-0 at the San Siro, thanks to goals from Mario Mandzukic and, of course, Cristiano Ronaldo.

3

For the first time in English top-flight history there are three unbeaten teams after 12 matches -- Manchester City, Liverpool, and Chelsea.

4

Santiago Solari is the first Real Madrid manager to win his first four competitive games since Manuel Pellegrini in 2009. A large part of his early success has been down to Madrid's Galacticos remembering where the goal is. They've scored 15 goals over these four games. To put that into perspective, they had scored nine goals in their previous 10 games combined under the recently-fired Julen Lopetegui. This weekend, they beat Celta Vigo 4-2 - and are now sixth in the league, just four points behind leaders Barcelona.

8

Sergio Aguero loves scoring against the old enemy. No player has scored more goals in Premier League Manchester derbies than him (eight, level with Wayne Rooney).

Also, Paco Alcacer is now just the second player in Bundesliga history to score eight goals over his first six appearances (the first being Gert Dörfel for Hamburger SV in 1963 - in the first ever Bundesliga season!)

11

Following City's comprehensive 3-0 derby win, Pep Guardiola has now beaten Jose Mourinho more times (11) than he has beaten any other manager in his career (including games on penalties). Jose really is Pep's Special One.

Robert Lewandowski now has 11 goals in nine Bundesliga games against his former club Dortmund. BVB, though, won the season's first Klassiker 3-2, and lead Bayern by seven points after 11 matches.

12

The number of matches Maurizio Sarri has now gone unbeaten, a new managerial record for the best run from the start of a Premier League career.

18

Lucien Favre's Dortmund side have now scored 18 goals from substitutes in all competitions this season -- at least 10 more than any other team in Europe's top five leagues

44

It started with a Fernandinho tackle and ended with an Ilkay Gundogan shot, but City's third goal against United was all about the build-up. The 44 passes they played before the shot are the most before a goal in the Premier League since Juan Mata scored for United against Southampton in September 2015 (45).
