Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher go head to head on Twitter ... again

The uneasy peace that exists between Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville has been breached once again after the Sky Sports colleagues became embroiled in yet another Twitter duel.

It all started when Carragher changed his profile picture to a figurine of himself, only to be asked by an inquisitive follower why he'd selected an image of Ryan Giggs as an avatar.

Of course, Carra's long-time social media nemesis couldn't resist weighing in, suggesting a picture of the Liverpool defender in a state of post own-goal anguish.

Carragher promptly responded to the jibe posting a lookalike of Neville, specifically T-Bag -- the gaunt, deranged maniac from Prison Break.

Inevitably, Neville hit back again, this time with a picture of his own impressive trophy haul amassed during his time at Manchester United.

As you might have guessed, Carra had a comeback lined up.

Carragher then briefly turned his attention back to the original matter at hand, formally announcing his brand new Twitter bio picture.

Playing it nice and safe.

We may still be a few weeks from the start of the new campaign, but it's reassuring to know that the ever-percolating fued between Carra and Nev hasn't diminished in the slightest over the off-season.

Chris covers the funny side of the game for ESPN FC in the Toe Poke blog.
