Man United to pay Paul Pogba-like fee for Lazio's Sergej Milinkovic-Savic

Sergej Milinkovic-Savic helped Lazio beat Roma for the first time since the 2013 Coppa Italia final.
Sergej Milinkovic-Savic could exceed the fee Manchester United paid for Paul Pogba.

With the January window on the horizon, there's plenty brewing in the transfer market. All the latest deals and potential deals can be found here.

Man United plot club-record swoop for Lazio star

Manchester United are considering a club-record £95 million move for Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, according to the Express.

The deal for the Serbian star would exceed that of Paul Pogba's move from Juventus for £89.3 m back in 2016.

The Biancocelesti would therefore receive a hefty profit on the £16m they paid Genk for the 22-year-old in 2015, with president Claudio Lotito demanding £100 million for his talisman.

Arsenal eye PSG sensation Guedes

Arsenal are contemplating a big-money move for Paris Saint-Germain sensation Goncalo Guedes, with the Mail claiming that interest remains in Monaco star Thomas Lemar.

Arsene Wenger is seemingly keen to upgrade his attacking talent, with the potential of losing both Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez in the next year.

Guedes has shone for Valencia on loan this campaign, and the Gunners could take advantage of PSG's concerns over breaching UEFA's Financial Fair Play guidelines.

Lemar is still highly rated at the Emirates, though a repeat £90 million bid is unlikely to resurface, as last summer's £60 million offer was to be funded by selling Sanchez to Man City.

Chelsea face PSG competition for Alex Sandro

Alex Sandro was the subject of intense interest from Chelsea last summer, though Juventus rejected several bids from the Premier League champions for the Brazil international left-back.

The 26-year-old has two years to run on his contract, but talk of a bumper extension from earlier in the season has gone quiet, and now Paris United report that PSG have made contact about a potential move.

Unai Emery is dissatisfied with current first-choice left-back Layvin Kurzawa, which means sporting director Antero Henrique has begun searching for alternatives.

Napoli star Faouzi Ghoulam could be an option, with the Algerian familiar with Ligue 1 from his time with Saint-Etienne. Despite a recent knee ligament injury and a new long-term contract, PSG could trigger the 26-year-old's €35 million (£30.8 million) release clause.

Olivier Giroud is in search of minutes after Alexandre Lacazette's emergence at Arsenal.

Saints, West Ham and Palace queue up for Giroud

Olivier Giroud could be on the move in January, with Southampton, West Ham and Crystal Palace interested in the Arsenal striker, though Everton could be knocked back for family reasons.

The France international is concerned about losing his World Cup place for Russia 2018 after losing his starting role to Alexandre Lacazette.

The Express report that Southampton are ready to break their club-record layout of £18 million (for Mario Lemina from Juventus) to sign the former Montpellier star.

Giroud's partner is expecting another child, which means the 31-year-old is reluctant to leave the south, so a short-term deal to another London club is another possibility, claims the Mirror, with the Hammers and Eagles eager to pounce.

Tap-ins

-- Chelsea have received a boost with Thibaut Courtois dampening speculation that he is resisting contract talks in order to move back to La Liga for family reasons when his contract expires in 2019.

The Mirror report that the Belgium No. 1 is keen to pen new terms before the end of the season and that family matters are not an immediate motivation to return to the Spanish capital, where he spent three years on loan with Atletico Madrid.

-- Jonathan Walters is available on loan in January, claims the Mirror, due to the Irish international's making just three appearances for Burnley since signing from Stoke.

-- Manchester United are favourites to sign Northern Ireland goalkeeper Conner Byrne, according the Mirror, with the Glenavon starlet making headlines after earning his debut at just 14 years old this term.

-- Finally, Marseille and Galatasaray are considering a loan move for Crystal Palace left-back Pape Souare, the Mail report, after his recent return following 12 months out due to injuries from a car crash.
