TOP STORY: Real Madrid enter race for Fekir
Having come within a whisker of joining Liverpool last week, it's being reported that Nabil Fekir is now showing up on Real Madrid's radar.
The Lyon midfielder was said to have agreed terms with the Reds over a £53 million transfer, and leaked images of the 24-year-old conducting an introductory interview with the club's in-house television channel made it onto social media.
However, the move fell through due to an issue with Fekir's medical, and now Lyon club president Jean-Michel Aulas has claimed that Madrid are considering an offer.
"The fact that things didn't conclude with Liverpool and it didn't happen in that time frame has piqued the interest of a lot of other clubs -- Real Madrid, but not just Real Madrid," Aulas told RT France, according to the Mirror. "My objective is to get him to stay; the players are like sons to me and I hope to persuade him to stay. But if he absolutely wishes to leave, then we will try to find the biggest club to match his talent."

PAPER TALK (by Chris Wright)
Mexico stars in high demand
After an impressive win over Germany in their opening World Cup match, it's perhaps little surprise that Mexico's biggest stars are attracting admiring glances from the biggest clubs on the planet.
Hirving Lozano was crowned man of the match for El Tri after scoring the lone goal in the win over the Germans. His father told ESPN that "there have been approaches" from the likes of Barcelona and other clubs, "but right now there's nothing concrete."
Elsewhere, A Bola reports that new Real Madrid coach Julen Lopetegui has asked the club to explore the possibility of signing midfielder Hector Herrera. Lopetegui has earmarked Herrera as an all-action "key player" in the new system he intends to implement at the Bernabeu next season.
Jorginho-to-Man City done
It's been rolling on for what feels like weeks, but it finally looks like Jorginho's £43m move from Napoli to Manchester City is drawing towards completion.
With the aforementioned fee agreed earlier this week, reports in Italy now suggest the Brazilian could sign a five-year contract and be unveiled for City as early as the weekend.
The only lingering matter to be resolved, those reports say, is the amount of money City will have to pay their Italian counterparts should Jorginho help them qualify for the Champions League next season.
- Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has cleared the way for Marek Hamsik to move to the Chinese Super League, but only if one of the midfielder's suitors can produce €30m by Monday, according to Sky Sports Italia. "If they do not bring the money to me by Monday, [the fee] will become 40," De Laurentiis said.
- Chelsea are pushing for a discount on the £9m payoff they might have to make to Antonio Conte because they believe the manager hurt the club with his treatment of Diego Costa, damaging their negotiating position and costing them millions of pounds on the player's transfer, reports the Mirror.
- Spurs want Nice striker Alassane Plea as back-up -- and competition? -- for Harry Kane, according to the Sun. The 21-year-old Frenchman scored 21 goals in all competitions for Nice last season.
