Baxter hoping Itumeleng Khune brings the magic

South Africa coach Stuart Baxter is hoping to use speed and guile to overcome the more physically imposing -- but at times lumbering -- Burkina Faso when the sides meet in a 2018 World Cup qualifier in Soweto on October 7.

Baxter has made a number of changes to his squad after the disastrous back-to-back defeats to Cape Verde this month which, coupled with FIFA's order to replay their 2-1 victory over Senegal from last year, has thrown their campaign to reach Russia into disarray.

Guardado heroic for Betis but three main Mexico strikers are misfiring

Andres Guardado has three assists in four games for Betis so far this season and enjoying his starring role.

MEXICO CITY -- It hasn't been a swift start for Mexican footballers in Europe, as only a few have been able to showcase significant performances that directly influence their respective clubs' fortunes. The Ghanaian official has since been found guilty of match-fixing and banned for life, prompting FIFA to take the unusual step of ordering a replay -- a game they will now pay for.

"They have confirmed to us that they will pick up...

Jordan Morris sidelined 'multiple weeks' for Sounders, U.S. - source

Max Bretos and Herculez Gomez use their weekly podcast to discuss Alexi Lalas' polarizing rant about the USMNT's struggles.

Seattle Sounders forward Jordan Morris' strained hamstring has been described as a "multiple-week injury," hitting his chances of playing in next month's World Cup qualifiers, a source has told ESPN FC.

U.S. international Morris suffered the injury in the second half of Sunday's 1-1 draw with LA Galaxy and was substituted in the 61st minute.

The injury came five days after he had helped set up Bobby Wood's equalizer in the 1-1 draw with Honduras.

Morris underwent an MRI on Monday and, while the...
