Despite losing a man early, Adelaide came back from two goals down to salvage a draw against Central Coast Mariners.

A 10-man Adelaide United have come from behind to force a 2-2 draw against Central Coast Mariners at Coopers Stadium.

The Reds were one man down for more than 70 minutes, with Ersan Gulum controversially sent off on 18 minutes.

Trailing 2-0 just before the hour, the home side fought to grab a share of the spoils.

While the Mariners settled quicker, they took an unexpected lead after just seven minutes following the first of two game-defining decisions.

Adelaide United signs Slovenia international Dzengis Cavusevic

The experience of Adelaide United signing Dzengis Cavusevic will be vital in the run into the A-League finals, coach Marco Kurz says.

The 30-year-old Slovenian striker, who has spent the bulk of his career playing in Switzerland, could debut for the Reds in their next game against the Central Coast Mariners on Feb 17.

Marco Kurz eyeing finals run as Adelaide United downs Perth Glory

Adelaide United coach Marco Kurz says he has fallen in love with his players.

The Reds climbed to fourth on the A-League table with a 2-1 home win against Perth on Saturday night.

"The performance from the boys, they give in every game whatever they have," Kurz said.

"I am very proud about the boys and I love the boys."
