Aleksandar Kolarov winner continues stupendous start to life at Roma

Roma claimed a hard-fought 1-0 win at Torino on Sunday, courtesy of Aleksandar Kolarov's free kick.

Aleksandar Kolarov strengthened his case as signing of the season as his crunching free kick gave Roma a 1-0 win from a hard-fought clash at Torino that saw the Giallorossi equal Inter Milan's record of 11 straight away Serie A victories.

The Serb brought his sensational form from the 3-3 draw at Chelsea in midweek to the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino and bagged Roma's winner with their first shot on target, 69 minutes into a tense battle at a ground where they hadn't won for four seasons.

Chelsea let a two-goal lead slip against Roma before settling for a draw, while Benfica's goalkeeping gaffe gifted Man United a win.
The experts at the ESPN FC desk talk Chelsea's 3-3 draw with Roma as Antonio Conte's men have let in five goals in all competitions since coming back from the international break.

After wowing Europe by coming back from two goals down to draw 3-3 at Chelsea, Roma return to the more prosaic task of Serie A. Given last weekend's defeat to leaders Napoli, they need to take their Champions League performance and transfer it to the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino, where in addition to chasing down the top four, they go hunting an old enemy's record.

Edin Dzeko's two goals vs. Chelsea emblematic of career revival

Edin Dzeko and Eden Hazard both scored a brace for their sides as the two top teams of Group C battle to a 3-3 draw.
Edin Dzeko's two goals earned Roma a point in their six-goal thriller against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Wednesday night will live long in the memory of the Romanisti who made it to Stamford Bridge. Used to their team collapsing in the face of adversity, they watched Roma battle back from two goals down to the Premier League champions Chelsea, a team managed by hated Juventino Antonio Conte, and come just a whisker away from leaving London with what would have been a huge -- and fully deserved -- three points.

They saw their team, so often a joke on Europe's biggest stage, and their main man Edin Dzeko,...

Edin Dzeko's two goals earned Roma a point in their six-goal thriller against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

A simply monstrous Edin Dzeko stole the show for Roma as they came close to a historic result at Stamford Bridge. The on-fire Bosnian led the charge in the fight back from two goals down against  the reigning Premier League champions. Roma took a 3-2 lead, only to see Eden Hazard snatch an undeserved point for Antonio Conte's side with 15 minutes left as the match finished 3-3. Despite only coming away with a draw and failing to take top spot in Group C, this was Roma's best display in Europe...

Chelsea defence falters, Edin Dzeko stars as Blues and Roma share six-goal thriller

Edin Dzeko and Eden Hazard both scored a brace for their sides as the two top teams of Group C battle to a 3-3 draw.

LONDON -- Three quick thoughts from Stamford Bridge, where Chelsea and Roma played to a 3-3 draw in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday.

1. Chelsea and Roma share six-goal thriller

Champions League group games can be rather staid affairs, the inconsequentiality of many rendering them box-ticking exercises. That was quite emphatically not the case at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday, when Chelsea and Roma drew a pulsating game 3-3 in which both teams held the lead and threw it away.

Roma look to boost UCL odds, down old foe Antonio Conte vs. Chelsea

The FC crew examine an enticing start to the Serie A season, which sees Juventus' stranglehold on Italy threatened.

There are few things that Roma fans like more than getting one over on a Juventino. And if in recent years Juve have merrily stomped on the Giallorossi as they have the rest of Serie A, Wednesday night's Roma-Chelsea match offers Romanisti the chance to down one of their oldest and most loathed enemies -- manager Antonio Conte. And it's one of the players Conte most admires who will be key in deciding whether Roma return to the Eternal City as victors.
