Aston Villa out to avoid equalling unwanted club record at Watford

Eric Black feels the Aston Villa supporters have every right to voice their frustration after their tumultuous season.

Amazingly, even in this disastrous season, there are still new lows for Aston Villa to suffer. Losing at Watford on Saturday would equal the club's worst-ever sequence of consecutive league defeats (11) and set the current side up for an unwanted record if they are beaten by Newcastle on May 7.

Should that happen, incidentally, it would also mean that Villa have lost to every other club in the Premier League in 2015-16, a statistic beyond embarrassment and excuse. And it could easily happen.

Villa's...

Quique Sanchez Flores admits doubts over his Watford future will affect players

Watford manager Quique Flores says his team created chances and played well despite falling to Crystal Palace 2-1.

Watford head coach Quique Sanchez Flores admits the uncertainty around his future could either inspire his players or unsettle them.

Flores has confirmed there is a break clause in his contract this summer and refused to dispel doubts over whether he will still be in charge at Vicarage Road next season.

Watford owner Gino Pozzo is believed to be unhappy with the team's miserable second half of the campaign, in which the Hornets have managed only two victories in 11 Barclays Premier League matches.

ESPN FC's Gab Marcotti has paid tribute to Leicester for their remarkable season.
ESPN FC's Gab Marcotti has paid tribute to Leicester for their remarkable season.

It has come down to this. In one of the greatest stories in sport, let alone football history, Leicester will be Premier League champions if they beat Manchester United on Sunday.

Just 12 months on from looking doomed to relegation to the Championship, the Foxes are on the brink of winning English football's biggest prize. It's absolutely extraordinary -- but will Manchester United spoil the party?

Louis van Gaal's men need a win to keep their faint top four hopes alive, while it's tense at the...

Gabriel Agbonlahor fined, steps down as Aston Villa captain after suspension

Eric Black feels the Aston Villa supporters have every right to voice their frustration after their tumultuous season.
A look at some of the low points this season which led to Aston Villa's first ever relegation from the Premier League.

Aston Villa forward Gabriel Agbonlahor has stepped down as the relegated club's captain, saying: "I do not deserve to carry out such a role any more."

It comes as he received a "substantial'' club fine, with the striker "reminded of his responsibilities as a professional footballer'' after a string of newspaper stories about his off-pitch behaviour.

Agbonlahor had been suspended by Villa, who are bottom of the Premier League and were relegated after defeat at Manchester United earlier this month,...
