BFC thrash East Bengal to lift Super Cup

Bhubaneshwar -- Bengaluru FC picked up their fifth major trophy in as many years, after beating East Bengal 4-1 to clinch the inaugural Super Cup.

Ansumnah Kromah gave East Bengal the lead in the 28th minute, but goals from Rahul Bheke (39), Sunil Chhetri (69' penalty, 90') and Miku (71') gave BFC a comfortable win.

Half chances were aplenty at either end, but it was East Bengal who broke the deadlock midway through the first half. Katsumi's corner was palmed away by Gurpreet Singh...

How the playoffs format of the ISL became a talking point

Gurpreet Sandhu and Miku express their disappointment at losing against Chennaiyin in the ISL final.

The Indian Super League (ISL) final saw Chennaiyin FC trump Bengaluru FC (BFC) 3-2 at their home in a dramatic final, one that saw the regular season table-toppers fail to win the league title for the fourth consecutive time.

BFC had finished the season with 40 points, eight ahead of second-placed Chennaiyin, and the post-match presentation had both BFC captain Sunil Chhetri and goalkeeper Gurpreet Sandhu allude to their disappointment at having "won the league" but lost the final. Sandhu...

BFC striker Miku on a possible move to China and being away from family.

After a stellar first season in the blue of Bengaluru FC, Venezuelan forward Miku is unsure if he is going to continue his Indian adventure.

"I have an offer from a China club," Miku told ESPN after Bengaluru were beaten 3-2 in the final of the Indian Super League (ISL) on Saturday. "The club (BFC) don't want to sell me. Two times, two different clubs from China (have approached me). I understand they want me here but I need to think of my family, of my future."

Miku has been a vital cog in Albert...

No reward for toppers yet again as final curse haunts BFC

Gurpreet Sandhu and Miku express their disappointment at losing against Chennaiyin in the ISL final.

Jeje Lalpekhlua had a point when he said "the pressure is on Bengaluru" ahead of the ISL final. Sure enough, in front of a boisterous home support, Bengaluru FC succumbed to schoolboy errors and nerves to hand Chennaiyin FC their second ISL title.

It meant that for the third time in four seasons, the home team lost in the final, a jinx that has haunted FC Goa (2015), Kerala Blasters (2016), and now BFC.
