Caen began their Coupe de la Ligue campaign with a 1-0 victory away to Ligue 2 side Lorient.

Caen had seen their impressive start to the season checked when they lost 2-0 to champions Monaco at the weekend, but they returned to winning ways when Cristian Kouakou kept his cool to slot home shortly before half-time.

Montpellier continued their positive recent form with a 2-0 win over Guingamp.

Monaco returned to winning ways after beating Caen 2-0 at Stade Louis II.

Leonardo Jardim's side had gone four matches without a victory after losing 2-1 at home to Besiktas on Tuesday night as their Champions League campaign continued to falter.

Monaco, though, produced the required response on Saturday afternoon to see off Caen with a first-half goal from Balde Keita and Radamel Falcao's penalty on the hour.

Inter Milan sign Yann Karamoh from Caen and loan Gabigol to Benfica

Yann Karamoh Caen
Yann Karamoh is a France under-21 international.

Inter Milan have signed forward Yann Karamoh from Caen, while Gabriel Barbosa has moved to Benfica on loan.

Karamoh signed a two-year loan deal with an obligation to buy, reportedly at €6 million.

The France under-21 international progressed through the ranks at Caen and made 35 Ligue 1 appearances last season, scoring five goals.

The 19-year-old's contract at Caen was due to expire at the end of next season but he signed a new deal before completing his move to Inter.
