Benni McCarthy slams Kaizer Chiefs' 'pretty dirty' tactics

Cape Town City FC coach Benni McCarthy has all but accused Kaizer Chiefs of trying to hurt his players in their midweek Absa Premiership clash this week, after Teenage Hadebe leveled a crunching tackle on Siphelele Mthembu.

The Chiefs defender won the ball cleanly but his follow through left Mthembu injured, and he had to leave the game in the ninth minute. McCarthy, speaking to the media, felt the Zimbabwean tackler should have pulled back after winning the ball.

Mourinho deserves medal of honour at Man Utd - McCarthy

Benni McCarthy says he looks no further than the methods of his former boss Jose Mourinho when gauging the great managers of the world as he plots his own coaching path at Cape Town City.

McCarthy recently gained his UEFA Pro License, putting him on a par in terms of qualifications with managers across Europe's elite leagues, and recently collected his first piece of silverware with the MTN8 in September.

Pirates move to within one point of league leaders Bidvest Wits, though they have played a game...

Argentine forward Emiliano Tade and Bongi Ntuli netted the goals for Usuthu, who had to absorb plenty of City pressure, but managed to keep the visitors down to just a few clear-cut chances.

The draw for the next stage was conducted directly after the final whistle and sees AmaZulu host Orlando Pirates in the next round.

Benni McCarthy ready to ditch 'rubbish' Cape Town City players

The quarterfinal line-up for the 2018 Telkom Knockout will be complete on Tuesday night when AmaZulu host Cape Town City at King Zwelithini Stadium in Umlazi in the last of the first-round matches.

City were recently crowned MTN8 champions but have shown Jekyll and Hyde form this season, with just a single league victory as well as they grapple on multiple fronts under coach Benni McCarthy.

Yet that inconsistent form has shown McCarthy what his best eleven is, as changes made after their MTN8 final...
