Peter Whittingham scores from the penalty spot.

Alex Pearce's nightmare first half helped Cardiff make it five straight home wins as they saw off 10-man Reading 2-1.

The Republic of Ireland international's 45 minutes to forget began with the game's opening goal when the Reading defender diverted Peter Whittingham's inswinging corner past his own goalkeeper.

And seconds before the break the centre-back saw red when he fouled former Royal Adam Le Fondre inside the box, allowing Whittingham to fire home the second from the penalty spot.

Vincent Tan slams Wigan duo Dave Whelan and Malky Mackay as 'racists'

Cardiff owner Vincent Tan has not held back in his criticism.

Cardiff owner Vincent Tan has criticised Wigan chairman Dave Whelan and the club's new manager Malky Mackay, telling the BBC: "This is a racist chairman hiring a racist manager."

Malaysian businessman Tan reacted angrily to Whelan's comments about Jewish and Chinese people in a newspaper interview with The Guardian in which he was defending his decision to hire former Cardiff boss Mackay.

Whelan has since apologised for his comments, though the Football Association says it will treat its investigation...

West Ham's Ravel Morrison cleared of acid throw threat at ex-girlfriend

West Ham United head coach Sam Allardyce revisits his team's shortcomings in a nil-nil draw against Aston Villa.

West Ham midfielder Ravel Morrison has been cleared of charges that alleged he threatened to throw acid in the face of his former girlfriend and have her killed.

Morrison, currently on loan at Cardiff, was said to have harassed Reah Mansoor over a four-year period, but on Monday the Crown Prosecution Service formally withdrew the allegation.

The 21-year-old was also accused of threatening to blow up Mansoor's house as part of the alleged conduct between January 2010 and July of this year.

Gary Rowett's unbeaten start as Birmingham manager continued with a spirited goalless draw against Cardiff.

Former Birmingham loanee Federico Macheda stabbed home early in the second half for Cardiff and Blues substitute Wes Thomas also had the ball in the net, but both were denied by the flag as Rowett moved to three games unbeaten since replacing Lee Clark while Cardiff await their first away league win this season.

The home side finished with 10 men as Thomas saw red for an off-the-ball incident...

Liam Feeney's first goals since August 2013 helped Bolton boss Neil Lennon secure a second straight home win and continued Cardiff's travelling troubles.

Winger Feeney scored his first two Wanderers goals in the opening 36 minutes, while Matt Mills added a third in the second period, as Lennon maintained a 100 per cent record at Macron Stadium since assuming the helm last month.

All the talk in the build up had been about a possible Thai takeover of Bolton, with chairman Phil Gartside having visited...
