High-flying Sky Bet Championship side Cardiff avoided an FA Cup banana skin as Junior Hoilett's brace helped them win 4-1 at Mansfield to set up a fourth-round clash with Manchester City.

In front of the watching City boss Pep Guardiola, Bruno Ecuele Manga's 34th-minute opener put Cardiff in the driving seat, only for Danny Rose to level a minute for their League Two opponents later.

But the Bluebirds' class showed after the break, with Hoilett's strike putting them back in front and Anthony Pilkington...

Middlesbrough, Cardiff target loan move for Liverpool's Marko Grujic

Jurgen Klopp revels in Liverpool's performance against Manchester City, stressing the importance of showing they can win without Philippe Coutinho.

Liverpool midfielder Marko Grujic is a loan target for Middlesbrough and Cardiff City, sources have told ESPN FC.

Grujic is currently well down the pecking order in Jurgen Klopp's first-team plans at Anfield and the manager is willing to loan him away so that he can get regular playing time under his belt.

Serbia international Grujic has made just six appearances in all competitions for Liverpool this season and only of them was a start in the EFL Cup against Leicester City in September.

Chris Coleman's return to Wales ended in painful defeat as Cardiff got back to winning ways with a 4-0 victory over Sunderland.

Callum Paterson scored twice and Joe Ralls and substitute Anthony Pilkington were also on target as Cardiff moved back into the Sky Bet Championship promotion places ahead of the afternoon kick-offs.

Sunderland's miserable day extended to a red card for Didier Ndong four minutes after the break with the score 1-0, the Gabon midfielder dismissed for a poor over-the-ball challenge...

Mansfield earned an FA Cup third-round replay against Cardiff by forcing a goalless draw in the Welsh capital.

Stags goalkeeper Conrad Logan kept the scores level at half-time before a host of second-half chances went begging for both sides.

Alex MacDonald and Paul Anderson had chances to seal a famous victory at a near-empty Cardiff City Stadium, but Steve Evans' side will at least be in the hat for the fourth-round draw.

There was little for the sparse crowd to shout about in the opening quarter....
