Federico Macheda's first league goal in Cardiff colours gave them a 22nd-minute lead, with Peter Whttingham firing home the second five minutes later.

Cardiff have named Russell Slade as their new first team manager.

Slade, who left League One Leyton Orient last month, has been touted for the Bluebirds' role following the exit of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on Sept. 18, and the Championship club confirmed the appointment on Monday night.

Slade takes over with his new club languishing in 15th position following their relegation from the Premier League and with just one win in nine league games.

Bluebirds owner Vincent Tan said of the 53-year-old's appointment:...

Francois Zoko struck in the 64th minute for Blackpool.

Blackpool finally ended their six-month wait for a victory as Francois Zoko's second-half winner moved the Seasiders off the foot of the table and gave boss Jose Riga his first victory.

Zoko struck just after the hour mark to seal three points for the Seasiders for the first time since last April, 160 days ago, as they defeated managerless Cardiff 1-0 in the Championship.

The Bluebirds now head into the international break in managerial limbo, with prospective boss Russell Slade present at Bloomfield...
