FA Cup passes peacefully thanks to robust security presence at Wembley

Watch on as Arsenal lift their 13th FA Cup trophy, as Aaron Ramsey's late goal proved to be the decisive goal vs. Chelsea.

LONDON -- For all the tension and fear during a week scarred by the death and devastation of the Manchester bomb attack, Saturday was a day when the UK moved forward.

A series of arrests and a lowering of the national terror threat level from critical to severe was the hard evidence of that and the FA Cup final at Wembley provided a reflection of a vigilant but calm public mood as it passed peacefully, without incident.

With regard to this week's atrocity at least, the response was respectful...

Antonio Conte addresses Arsenal's controversial goal in the FA Cup final, which he feels shouldn't have stood.

LONDON -- There is an Arsenal supporters' banner that reads, simply, "Arsene Knows." It has been around for a while and is supposed to relate to his wisdom in all football-related matters, but with uncertainty once again swirling around his future following the FA Cup final victory over Chelsea, a win that secured his seventh FA Cup, "Arsene Knows" seems wholly appropriate as he seems to be quite happily keeping everyone guessing for just a while longer.

Nobody else seems to know, so surely...

Antonio Conte addresses Arsenal's controversial goal in the FA Cup final, which he feels shouldn't have stood.
Thibaut Courtois laments the decision to allow Arsenal's opener, where he feels Ramsey clearly interfered.

Chelsea were unable to add the FA Cup to their Premier League title after succumbing 2-1 to Arsenal at Wembley.

The Blues appeared to be still recovering from their exuberant celebrations after they were crowned champions last Sunday, with Arsenal far more committed from the first whistle. It didn't help that the officials allowed Alexis Sanchez's early goal to stand despite a handball in the build-up and clear interference from Aaron Ramsey, who was stood in an offside position. Nevertheless,...

Arsenal beat 10-man Chelsea 2-1 at Wembley, end season with FA Cup win

Watch on as Arsenal lift their 13th FA Cup trophy, as Aaron Ramsey's late goal proved to be the decisive goal vs. Chelsea.
Aaron Ramsey's late goal earned Arsenal their thirteenth FA Cup triumph at Wembley.

LONDON -- Three thoughts from Wembley after Aaron Ramsey's goal secured a 2-1 win for Arsenal and FA Cup glory over 10-man Chelsea:

1. Arsenal pull it off, win FA Cup

You have to hand it to Arsenal. No other team has beaten Chelsea twice this season, but Arsene Wenger's players pulled it off in style by making Antonio Conte pay for his selection mistake with a 2-1 victory in the FA Cup Final.

ESPN FC's Chelsea correspondent Liam Twomey has his say as to whether or not Chelsea will seal the double against Arsenal.

On Saturday afternoon at Wembley, Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is aiming to become only the third manager to win the league and cup double in his first full season in English football. One of the previous two, Arsene Wenger, will be in the other dugout.

For all of the intriguing on-pitch head-to-head battles, and in a game where both sides will use similar systems (and therefore players will match one another across the pitch), it is the clash between Conte and Wenger that is the most intriguing....
