French league leaders Nice have only the title race to focus on for the rest of the season after going out of the Coupe de France on Sunday, losing 2-1 away to Lorient.

Lorient, in last place in Ligue 1, saw off Nice despite the visitors taking the lead through top scorer Alassane Plea near the end of the first half.

The hosts equalised with a fine individual goal from former Arsenal forward Jeremie Aliadiere in the 71st minute, and Algerian midfielder Walid Mesloub's winner shortly after sent...

Corinne Diacre thanks Clermont president for backing her

Corinne Diacre said she would love to see Clermont get promoted.

Clermont coach Corinne Diacre says that earning promotion would be a good way to thank the club president for giving her a chance to become the first woman to manage a professional men's team in France.

Diacre, 41, has guided Clermont to fifth in Ligue 2 this season -- just two points off the promotion places -- despite the club having the second-lowest budget in the league.

Corinne Diacre, Clermont's female coach, gets 2-year contract extension

Clermont Foot have appointed Corinne Diacre to replace Helena Costa as head coach.

Clermont manager Corinne Diacre, the first woman to manage a professional French men's team in competitive action, has been rewarded with a contract extension until 2018 at the Ligue 2 side.

Diacre, 41, made history when she took charge at the club in June 2014 after the brief reign and abrupt departure of her predecessor, Helena Costa.

A former captain of France's women's team who was capped 121 times, Diacre guided the men of Clermont to a 12th-placed finish in France's second tier last season.

BREST, France -- Corinne Diacre became the first woman to coach a men's professional soccer team in a competitive match in France when her Clermont team lost 2-1 Monday at Brest in the second division.

Diacre's managerial stint in men's soccer got off to a perfect start when Souleymane Sawadogo finished off a counterattack in the ninth minute, prompting only a small smile from his coach in celebration. But Bruno Grougi converted a second-half penalty for Brest in the second half , and Alexandre...
