Potential relocation has Columbus Crew rebuilding -- but not retreating

With several MLS stars set to line up for new clubs in 2018, check out some of the most notable trades of the offseason.

It is tempting to prematurely mourn the demise of Columbus Crew SC.

Although nothing is yet set in stone, owner Anthony Precourt has been open -- some might say obstinate -- about his desire to move the club to Austin, Texas, starting with the 2019 season. Plans for the relocation of Columbus Crew SC to Austin drew further opposition on Saturday as over 60 people protested a potential stadium site in the Texas capital.

Those gathered objected to the use of public parkland for Precourt Sports Ventures' exploratory plans to move the MLS team from Columbus. PSV has said it is exploring dual options for a new stadium in both cities.

In Austin, PSV has offered to build a privately financed stadium but finding a location has proven difficult. From its initial...

MLS veteran Ricardo Clark signs with Columbus Crew SC

With several MLS stars set to line up for new clubs in 2018, check out some of the most notable trades of the offseason.

Veteran MLS midfielder Ricardo Clark signed with Columbus Crew SC as a free agent on Friday.

Clark, 34, comes to Columbus after a second stint with the Houston, where he'd played since 2012.

"We are excited Ricardo chose to join our club as a free agent signing this winter," Crew coach Gregg Berhalter said. "Ricardo brings over a decade of MLS and national team experience to our club, which was one of the youngest in the league last season.

"He is a consistent winner in MLS and adds important...
