Brazil great Ronaldo discharged from Ibiza hospital after heavy flu

Former Brazil and Real Madrid striker Ronaldo was discharged from an Ibiza hospital on Tuesday after suffering "heavy flu" while on holiday.

The 41-year-old was admitted on Friday after reportedly suffering from pneumonia. Hospital sources told Spanish media that Ronaldo left on Tuesday.

Ronaldo Nazario was admitted to hospital in Ibiza to be treated for pneumonia, with the former Brazil and Real Madrid great set to be discharged Monday.

Local newspaper Diario de Ibiza said the two-time Ballon d'Or holder and 2002 World Cup Golden Boot winner is in the intensive care unit at the private Policlinica Nuestra Senora del Rosario hospital on the Spanish island, after being taken to a public hospital on the island on Friday evening.

Cruzeiro release former Brazil striker Leandro Damiao

Former Brazil international forward Leandro Damiao is leaving Cruzeiro.

Cruzeiro have not renewed the contracts of former Brazil international forwards Leandro Damiao and Julio Baptista, the club announced on Wednesday.

Damiao, 26, was a reported target of Tottenham in 2011-12 after featuring for the Selecao in its 2012 Olympics campaign. Julio Baptista, 34, made 48 appearances for the national team and spent time at Real Madrid, Arsenal, Sevilla and Sao Paulo among others.

In addition, the club announced the departure of midfielder Charles and right-back Ceara.
