Espanyol apologises for racist slur by employee before match

An employee of Spanish club Espanyol was heard racially insulting a Girona supporter before Saturday's La Liga match between the teams, prompting the club's head of communications to apologise.

Spanish newspaper ABC said a group of supporters aimed derogatory chants at Espanyol's players as they got off the bus outside Girona's stadium and match delegate Jose Maria Calzon responded by insulting one of the fans.
