Tom Nichols stepped off the bench to help fire Exeter into the top 10 of League Two as they won 2-0 at Morecambe.

The substitute kept a cool head to net his first goal since the opening day with a minute remaining to seal their sixth win in their last eight league games.

Paul Tisdale's in-form outfit had taken just nine minutes to break the deadlock. Christian Ribiero's deep cross from the right wing was headed into his own net by Shaun Beeley.

Wycombe saw their 10-match unbeaten run in League Two ended by Exeter, who were 2-1 winners at St James' Park.

Wanderers, who were unbeaten away from home this season, capitalised on an awful start to the game by their hosts and took the lead after seven minutes. Peter Murphy ghosted between the central defenders and planted a header firmly into the corner of the net to give goalkeeper Christy Pym no chance.

David Wheeler, a winger turned into a makeshift striker by Exeter manager Paul Tisdale, was...

Graham Cummins secured a 1-1 draw for Exeter with a well-taken late equaliser at Southend.

The Shrimpers went ahead in the 33rd minute when David Worrall headed home for the Shrimpers.

But Cummins' effort 13 minutes from time made sure of a well-deserved point for the Grecians.

Southend had the better of the first half, with Lee Barnard striking the left post from close range after Ryan Leonard's long-range shot had been deflected into his path by Jack Payne.

However, Exeter were on top after the break...

Hartlepool climbed off the bottom of League Two with a smash-and-grab 2-1 win at Exeter.

Exeter dominated the first half, but had nothing to show for their efforts. The closest they came was through their impressive England under-20 international Matt Grimes, who twice forced the Hartlepool goalkeeper into good saves.

Hartlepool came closest to breaking the deadlock through Dan Jones, who headed against the crossbar, but it wasn't until the 49th minute that the deadlock was broken.

Coventry strolled to a comfortable 3-1 win against Exeter at the Ricoh Arena to end a run of four matches without victory.

The League One side had the game effectively wrapped up by half time thanks to a double from young wing-back Aaron Phillips.

The 20-year-old, who father David was a City player when they won the FA Cup in 1987, made the home side's dominance count in the 34th minute when he was quickest to react inside the visitors' area.

John Fleck's shot through a crowded area was palmed away...
