Raffael scored a late brace as Borussia Monchengladbach beat Bundesliga strugglers Hamburg 3-1 in their final match of 2017 to move up to fourth in the table.

The hosts flew out of the blocks and almost broke the deadlock after six minutes when on-loan West Ham youngster Reece Oxford controlled the ball on his chest before clattering the bar with a fierce strike from just inside the area.

Bobby Wood again sidelined by knee irritation for Hamburg

Bobby Wood has found it difficult to stay in the Hamburg lineup this season.

United States international Bobby Wood will miss Hamburg's Bundesliga match against Eintracht Frankfurt on Tuesday night, the German club have confirmed to ESPN FC.

Wood, 25, already failed to make Saturday's match day squad against Wolfsburg with knee problems, and despite joining his teammates for a training session on Monday, he has now been ruled out of the tie against Eintracht Frankfurt.

As earlier reported by Hamburger Morgenpost, Wood will not make Tuesday's match day squad because of a...

Neither goalkeeper was unduly tested at the Schwarzwald Stadion as the teams toiled for a point apiece which left them in 16th and 15th spots, respectively.

Nils Petersen saw a long-range volley tipped over the bar by HSV goalkeeper Christian Mathenia in the 10th minute and Christian Gunter fired into the side-netting after bursting through seven...

Hamburg's Jann-Fiete Arp, 17, to face Freiburg, granted special dispensation

Jann-Fiete Arp has scored twice in five appearances for Hamburg this season.

Hamburg have been granted special dispensation from the authorities to play 17-year-old striker Jann-Fiete Arp in the Bundesliga on Friday.

Germany's Youth Employment Protection Act directs that employees aged 17 and under are only allowed to work between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m. Hamburg, in 15th place, kick off against Freiburg, one spot below them, at 8:30 p.m. on Friday.

Therefore, Hamburg had to ask for permission to play their teenager, who has scored twice in five appearances this season. Arp has...
