Source: U.S.'s Soto, Gloster may leave Hannover

Omar Gonzalez explains how the U.S. are hoping to win the 2019 Gold Cup and delves into his relationship with Michael Bradley and Jozy Altidore at Toronto FC.

Hannover 96 are in danger of failing to re-sign U.S. U20 national team players Sebastian Soto and Chris Gloster, a source has told ESPN FC.

Both players have excelled during the current Under-20 World Cup being held in Poland. Gloster has looked sharp on both sides of the ball as the team's left-back, while Soto has scored four goals during the tournament, including a brace in the Americans 3-2 round-of-16 victory over pre-tournament favorites France.

U.S. striker Sebastian Soto left home at 15 to pursue his soccer dream. Now he's ready to star at U-20 World Cup

Bruce Arena says the USMNT's World Cup qualifying failure in 2017 did not factor into his decision to take the head-coaching job with New England.
Sebastian Soto became the second-youngest American, behind only Christian Pulisic, to debut in a Bundesliga game when he appeared vs. Wolfsburg on April 6.

In early 2018, Sebastian Soto traveled with Real Salt Lake's first team for preseason. Like every player on the trip, he was given a per diem (or daily allowance) envelope with his meal money for the trip, about $600. With Soto having subsisted on $12 a day on trips with RSL's academy, the amount was a shock.

"I said, 'Oh my god.' I went to my hotel room and poured it out on the bed," Soto recalled. "I told one of the staff, 'This is the most money I've ever held in my hand.'"

He played 14 times for the Swiss national side between 2009 and 2014 and was also in their 2010 World Cup squad, but didn't make an appearance in the tournament.

He joins from Hannover 96, who have been relegated from the Bundesliga, the top division of German football.

Bayern Munich players celebrate after Leon Goretzka had made it 2-0.

Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich stuttered to a 3-1 win over bottom club Hanover 96 on Saturday, struggling through the second half against 10 men after substitute Jonathas scored and was sent off in 10 eventful minutes for the visitors.

The Brazilian came on at halftime, converted a penalty six minutes later and was given two yellow cards -- the first for tussling with Bayern goalkeeper Sven Ulreich in the net -- within four minutes of each other.

U.S. youth international Gloster subjected to monkey chants in Germany

Shaka Hislop calls on UEFA to do more than assessing a monetary fine, following alleged racial abuse directed at England players in Montenegro.

United States youth international Chris Gloster was racially abused by VfB Lubeck supporters while playing for Hannover this week, his club said on their official website.

Hannover reported the alleged abuse to the Northern German FA, after Michael Tarnat -- Hannover's head of academy -- said the Lubeck fans' behaviour had "exceeded tolerable limits."

Gloster, 18, was subjected to monkey chants and other verbal abuse by members of the 200 travelling Lubeck supporters, according to Hannover's...
