Chicago Fire beats New York Red Bulls, Rapids hit late winner vs. Dynamo

Chicago Fire were able to secure a 3-2 win over the New York Red Bulls at home with a late winner in the second half.

Kennedy Igboananike broke a tie in the 73rd minute with his second goal of the game and the Chicago Fire beat New York 3-2 on Wednesday night to end the Red Bulls' six-game undefeated streak.

After New York's Sacha Kljestan opened the scoring on a penalty kick in the 10th minute, Igboananike tied it in the 22nd for Chicago. He slotted Gilberto's through ball inside the far post.

The Portland Timbers left it late as Darlington Nagbe and Lucas Melano notched goals in the final 15 minutes to draw level 2-2 with Houston at Providence Park.

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Lucas Melano scored his first MLS goal in the 86th minute to pull the Portland Timbers into a 2-2 draw with the Houston Dynamo on Friday night.

Melano, who signed with the Timbers last month, also got his first assist 10 minutes earlier as the Timbers rallied from a 2-0 deficit.

Of course he was happy to score the goal, but "more importantly, to rescue a point here at home, which I felt we deserved," he said through a translator.

Boniek Garcia and Will Bruin each scored in the first...

After a series of lengthy rain delays, the New England Revolution triumphed 2-0 at Gillette Stadium as Jose Goncalves notched his first goal of the year in a win against the Houston Dynamo.
ESPN FC's Alejandro Moreno presents his MLS awards from week 20 throughout the league, including a pretty terrible error from Houston Dynamo's goalkeeper Joe Willis.

Houston Dynamo forward Erick "Cubo" Torres says the pace in Major League Soccer is faster than in the Mexican League.

Former Chivas USA star Torres recently returned to MLS after completing his loan at Chivas Guadalajara, and he said the game moves much faster in the U.S.-based league.

"Sure, they are different. The United States is faster, more physical, a little bit stronger and the defense doesn't let you hold onto the ball as long because they are so fast and they are so intense with their feet,"...
