Sources: Real Madrid call off Bale Jiangsu move

ESPN FC's Gab Marcotti addresses where Gareth Bale's reported move to Jiangsu Suning appears to have fallen through.
Gareth Bale scored, made a goal-line stop and missed a penalty in Real Madrid's shootout victory against Arsenal.
Gareth Bale failed to convert on Real Madrid's opening penalty, kicking the ball directly into the goalkeeper's outstretched hands.

Gareth Bale's proposed transfer to Chinese Super League side Jiangsu Suning has been called off by Real Madrid after the Wales international's family opted against making the move, according to ESPN FC sources.

News the deal had collapsed was first reported by the BBC, and sources have told ESPN FC another reason for the breakdown was that Jiangsu would only agree to a free transfer, while Madrid were looking for a fee for Bale.

Late Carrasco penalty earns Dalian draw against Jiangsu

Yannick Carrasco, Dalian Yifang
Yannick Carrasco earned Dalian Yifang a draw against Jiangsu Suning.

Jiangsu Suning missed the chance to move into the Chinese Super League's top four after Yannick Carrasco's late penalty secured Dalian Yifang a 1-1 draw on Sunday.

Alex Teixeira had given Cosmin Olaroiu's side the lead just after the hour mark, and a win would have seen the Nanjing-based club leapfrog Shandong Luneng into fourth with eight games of the season gone.

But Carrasco's spot kick -- awarded when the video assistant referee confirmed Tian Yinong had handled Marek Hamsik's free kick into...

Australia's Trent Sainsbury joins PSV Eindhoven after leaving Jiangsu Suning

Australia defender Trent Sainsbury has joined Dutch champions PSV Eindhoven on a three-year deal after leaving Chinese Super League side Jiangsu Suning.

The move reunites 26-year-old Sainsbury with Mark van Bommel, who took charge of PSV after completing his role as assistant to Australia coach Bert van Marwijk at the World Cup.

"Trent is a defender who we found interesting when he was still playing at PEC Zwolle," PSV interim technical manager John de Jong told the club's website.

"He is now a...

Australia's Trent Sainsbury terminates Jiangsu Suning contract

Australia defender Trent Sainsbury has left Chinese Super League side Jiangsu Suning after his contract was terminated following mediation involving Professional Footballers Australia (PFA).

Sainsbury joined Jiangsu from Dutch club PEC Zwolle in 2016 before moving to Inter Milan -- also owned by Suning -- on loan when restrictions on foreign players were brought in by the Chinese authorities a year later.

He returned to China at the conclusion of the Serie A season and remained with Jiangsu until...

Fabio Capello announces retirement: 'I did everything that I wanted to'

Fabio Capello's final job came in China with Jiangsu Suning.

Fabio Capello has announced his retirement from coaching, saying he has no interest in taking charge of an "average" Italy squad.

Capello, 71, was released by the Chinese club Jiangsu Suning after just nine months in charge last month and he says that has brought a definite end to his career.

"I've already done time with England and Russia and my last job was this one in China at Jiangsu Suning," he told RAI Radio when asked if he would be keen on the Italy job. "I wanted to give it another go at...
