Casemiro, Marco Asensio and Isco all found the back of the net for Real Madrid in a routine win over Las Palmas.

Marco Asensio struck an instant classic as Real Madrid returned to winning ways with a 3-0 victory over Las Palmas.

After back-to-back defeats at the hands of Girona and Tottenham, a much-needed success for Zinedine Zidane's side was topped and tailed by efforts from Casemiro and Isco.

Celso Borges brace boosts Depor by Las Palmas; Espanyol edge Real Betis

Strugglers Deportivo La Coruna and Espanyol both claimed important wins to pull away from the LaLiga relegation zone.

In Gran Canaria, Deportivo won 3-1 over a Las Palmas team who, despite their own lowly position in the table, beat the Galicians 4-1 in the Copa del Rey last week.

Iago Aspas marked his 250th appearance for Celta Vigo with a hat trick as his side routed Las Palmas 5-2 despite going down to 10 men.

Aspas had not scored in Celta's previous two matches, despite them running in a total of seven goals against Girona and Eibar, but made it up in style at Estadio Gran Canaria.

After Emre Mor's 16th-minute opener, Aspas netted via a soft deflection off goalkeeper Leandro Chichizola and made it 3-0 with a smart finish early in the second half.

Pep Guardiola 'wouldn't have played' Barcelona match behind closed doors

ESPN FC's Barcelona correspondent Samuel Marsden checks in from the Camp Nou after the club decided to play behind closed doors amid political tension in Catalonia.

Former Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola has told RAC1 that Sunday's game against Las Palmas should never have been allowed to go ahead.

Guardiola added that if it did have to be played, then it should not have been played behind closed doors, as Barca ran out 3-0 winners in the Liga encounter.

There was uncertainty whether the game would be played in the run-up to kickoff due to clashes between police and voters on the day of the divisive referendum on Catalan independence.
