Alfredo Ortuno has said he is eager to prove his worth in Major League Soccer after signing for Real Salt Lake from Las Palmas following six months without playing.

Real Salt Lake used Targeted Allocation Money (TAM) to acquire the 26-year-old as a franchise player.

Ortuno scored 17 goals in 42 league appearances for Segunda Division side Cadiz on loan from Las Palmas last season but has not featured this season amid a transfer dispute.

Las Palmas appoint Paco Jemez as Pako Ayestaran's successor

Paco Jemez had initially turned down Las Palmas' offer.

La Liga strugglers Las Palmas have appointed Paco Jemez as their new coach. 

Las Palmas had been without a coach since they sacked Pako Ayestaran on Nov. 30.

A club statement read: "UD Las Palmas have reached an agreement with coach Paco Jemez to take over the team until the end of the season. Jemez will be unveiled on Dec. 27."

It will be Jemez's second stint at Las Palmas, having guided the Canary Islands-based outfit in the 2010-11 campaign.

Pako Ayestaran leaves Las Palmas after six La Liga games in charge

Pako Ayesteran's spell at Las Palmas was short-lived.

Struggling Las Palmas have fired coach Pako Ayestaran following Wednesday's 3-2 home defeat to Deportivo La Coruna in the Copa del Rey.

Ayestaran, who took charge on Sept. 27 with the club in 15th place, led the team to just one point from a possible 21 in La Liga.

Despite Las Palmas progressing 6-4 on aggregate to the next round of the Copa after the loss to Depor, the club decided to part ways with the coach.
