Ligue 2 playoff between Ajaccio and Le Havre postponed after fans attack bus

The Ligue 2 playoff match between Ajaccio and Le Havre was postponed after supporters of the Corsican club attacked the visiting team's bus on Friday.

Normandy-based Le Havre beat Brest 2-0 on Tuesday and are fighting with Ajaccio for promotion to Ligue 1 -- French domestic football's top flight.

However, both clubs' respective quests are on hold after some fans, from a group of an estimated 150, threw projectiles and rocks at Le Havre's bus and blocked it from reaching the entrance to the Stade...

Le Havre to wear black shirts after death of defender Samba Diop

French second-division club Le Havre will wear a black shirt for their next two games in remembrance of defender Samba Diop, who died on Friday.

The club's Ligue 2 game against Reims was called off after it emerged Diop, 18, died overnight.

Diop had been due to make the step up from the reserve team to the first team this summer. There has yet been no indication of the circumstances of Diop's death.

Le Havre defender Samba Diop dies aged 18

French club Le Havre have announced their defender Samba Diop has died at the age of 18.

The Ligue 2 outfit said the teenager, who played for the club's reserve team, died on Friday night.

"It is with enormous sadness that the members of the club have learnt of the death of its player Samba Diop,'' Le Havre said on their website.

Diop was born in the Normandy city and last year helped the club's under-19 side finish second in their national league. The club have given no indication of the circumstances...

Angry Le Havre supporters invade pitch after loss to Quevilly

LE HAVRE, France -- Angry fans of second division French side Le Havre spilled onto the field following a 2-0 home defeat to struggling Quevilly on Friday, the second such invasion in French football this month.

After the final whistle, some 120 fans charged onto the pitch at Stade Oceane. They tried to make their way to the entrance to the dressing rooms but were blocked by a line of stewards.

Le Havre are in ninth place and Normandy-based Quevilly are 19th in the 20-team league.
