Man United meet Southampton in EFL final, Leicester need win vs. Liverpool

The Boys from Exploding Heads are here to assure you that the League Cup final is definitely not pointless.

Could the unthinkable happen? Could Leicester really go down? It's a huge game for the Foxes on Monday night as Liverpool come to the King Power and now they don't have a manager! The hosts are in real trouble, without a goal or a Premier League point so far in 2017 they sacked Claudio Ranieri and need to start firing on the pitch.

Elsewhere, the first silverware of the season is up for grabs in the EFL Cup final between Manchester United and Southampton.

Have your say on that and all the rest of...

Leicester's Claudio Ranieri decision right, but taken at the wrong time

Gab Marcotti, Alejandro Moreno and Steve Nicol share their differing points of view on Claudio Ranieri's sacking.

Leicester City's board made the right decision sacking Claudio Ranieri, but at the wrong time. City's Thai owners kept the Italian on for too long out of sentiment, bewitched by the astonishing Premier League title win last season.

Instead, the decision to part ways was delayed until after the first leg of Leicester's round of 16 Champions League tie at Sevilla -- a valiant 2-1 loss, where the Leicester of old turned up in the second half -- which was bizarre.

What makes the timing of the decision...

Gab Marcotti, Alejandro Moreno and Steve Nicol share their differing points of view on Claudio Ranieri's sacking.

Here are the latest stories for Friday.

LEICESTER: Claudio Ranieri has been sacked as Leicester City manager less than 300 days after leading the team to the most improbable of Premier League titles.

- The club made the announcement on Thursday and the news lit the social-media world on fire, with the move polarising opinions around the world.

- The move was deemed harsh, but necessary, by two ESPN FC contributors, with Mark Ogden saying the manager's time had come and Iain Macintosh putting...

The players have failed Leicester this season but Ranieri has paid the price

Gab Marcotti, Alejandro Moreno and Steve Nicol share their differing points of view on Claudio Ranieri's sacking.
Steve Nicol says too much has gone wrong for Leicester this season for Claudio Ranieri to continue as manager.

Former Newcastle United chairman Freddy Shepherd once said that sacking Sir Bobby Robson in 2004 was like "shooting Bambi." He had it easy.

Leicester City's decision to sack Claudio Ranieri is like shooting Bambi, if Bambi had just won you the GDP of a medium-sized European nation on the lottery and had the winning ticket held gently in his mouth, a sparkle in his eye and an impish grin on his face. This is the most controversial, most cold-blooded, most ruthless decision taken by a football...

Leicester right to sack Claudio Ranieri

Gab Marcotti, Alejandro Moreno and Steve Nicol share their differing points of view on Claudio Ranieri's sacking.
Steve Nicol says too much has gone wrong for Leicester this season for Claudio Ranieri to continue as manager.

There was an ominous change of mood at Leicester City before a ball had even been kicked this season, after their remarkable Premier League triumph during the 2015-16 campaign.

Two days before the champions faced FA Cup winners Manchester United in the Community Shield at Wembley, Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri held a press conference at the club's Belvoir Drive training ground. At it, he complained about the attitude of his players during the preseason and the delivery of 19 Azure Blue sports...

Claudio Ranieri sacked as Leicester manager: A timeline of his tenure

Gab Marcotti, Alejandro Moreno and Steve Nicol share their differing points of view on Claudio Ranieri's sacking.
Steve Nicol says too much has gone wrong for Leicester this season for Claudio Ranieri to continue as manager.

On Thursday, Leicester City announced the sacking of coach Claudio Ranieri, just nine months after he led the club to their first Premier League title.

Ranieri and Leicester have struggled this season, with the Foxes sitting just one point and one position above the relegation zone. But his accomplishments during his time at the club have been immense.

July 13, 2015: Ranieri is announced as new Leicester manager.
