Roma make Lens defender William Bianda their ninth summer signing

William Bianda has become Roma's ninth new signing of the summer, arriving from French second division club Lens.

Bianda follows Javier Pastore, Bryan Cristante, Antonio Mirante, Davide Santon, Nicolo Zaniolo, Ivan Marcano, Ante Coric and Justin Kluivert in joining last season's Champions League semifinalists.

The 18-year-old defender, who has made only five Ligue 2 appearances, was described as "an exciting prospect" by sporting director Monchi, who indicated that further new faces could arrive.

Lens fans ask for Mona Lisa loan move

Lens fans have lent their support to a campaign to bring the Mona Lisa to the economically depressed northern town.

Supporters of the Ligue 2 side unveiled a huge banner showing their club's shirt bearing Leonardo da Vinci's world-renowned masterpiece on the front, ahead of Saturday's derby with Valenciennes.

The painting currently hangs in Paris' Louvre museum, but French president Emmanuel Macron, himself born in northern France, has been asked by Lens mayor Sylvain Robert to allow La Joconde (as...

Atletico Madrid sell stake in Lens a year on from their investment

Atletico Madrid have sold their share in Ligue 2 side Lens just 12 months after making the investment.

Atletico bought 34.6 percent of Lens in July 2016, in a move overseen by the French bankruptcy courts, which also saw Luxembourg-based company Solferino become majority shareholders at a club which had been through the financial mill in recent years.

The 18 months since have seen little public connection between the two clubs, and Atletico have now announced that they have sold their share to Solferino...

Lens' Nicolas Douchez arrested and faces drunken violence charge

Nicolas Douchez was arrested early Thursday morning.

Lens goalkeeper Nicolas Douchez was taken into police custody on Thursday for suspected drunken violence against a girlfriend.

Le Parisien reported the alleged victim was found naked, bruised and bloody in a Paris apartment, and that Douchez, 37, reeked of alcohol when police detained him.

A police official and a judicial official confirmed Douchez's detention. The judicial official said the victim was Douchez's girlfriend.

Douchez, who once starred for Rennes before playing sparingly for Paris...

Atletico Madrid to visit sister club in Mexico in July - San Luis chief

Atletico Madrid are set to make a visit to Mexican "sister club" San Luis this summer, with stars including coach Diego Simeone and reported Manchester United target Antoine Griezmann having reportedly promised to attend.

Earlier this year, Atletico confirmed they had bought a share (reported to be 50 percent) in the second-tier Mexican outfit, as part of a global expansion of franchise clubs, which is supported by their Chinese investors, Wanda.

It had been earlier reported in Spain that Atletico...
