Malaga cruised to an unusually high scoring 3-0 Primera Division defeat of Getafe, inspired by Juanpi, to go level with ninth-placed Deportivo La Coruna.

Venezuelan midfielder Juanpi scored the first goal and contributed to another as the three points took his team four clear of 11th-placed Getafe.

The opening goal came in the ninth minute when the 22-year-old classily dribbled past three Getafe defenders before shooting low inside the far post beyond goalkeeper Vicente Guaita.

Guillermo Ochoa's Mexico career suffering as Malaga exile continues

Former U.S. international Brian McBride says Mexico is making a smart move by tapping into America's youth system.

Guillermo Ochoa remains in limbo with Malaga 17 months after his remarkable World Cup performances.

With its beaches, Mediterranean climate and cosmopolitan vibe, Malaga isn't a bad place to live. For the next few months at least, Mexico goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa will be a resident in the Andalusian city, after the winter transfer window closed in the majority of European leagues without a serious murmur about the 30-year-old.

Malaga moved into the top half of the Primera Division after picking up a hard-fought 2-1 victory at in-form Eibar.

Juanpi broke the deadlock on the stroke of half-time to give the visitors the edge in an end-to-end encounter and Roque Santa Cruz sealed the points by striking at the end of the second half.

Borja Baston grabbed a consolation goal for the hosts in the last minute of stoppage time but it was not enough to prevent a first home defeat in two months for the Basques, who missed a chance to...

Bordeaux won't sign Mexico goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa

Guillermo Ochoa
Bordeaux have passed on a chance to bring in Mexico goalkeeper Memo Ochoa.

Bordeaux president Jean-Louis Triaud said his club have turned down the chance to sign Mexican goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa.

Currently 10th in Ligue 1, Bordeaux had been expected to make a move for an experienced keeper after Cedric Carrasso suffered a cruciate ligament injury in their 2-2 draw with Nantes last weekend.

Manager Willy Sagnol confirmed earlier this week that Paris Saint-Germain's...

Malaga have announced the signing of winger Cifu on loan from Segunda Division side Elche.

The 25-year-old right-sided player will remain at Malaga for the rest of the season and is due to undertake his first training session with his new team-mates on Wednesday after completing his medical tests on Tuesday.
