Sydney FC have returned to winning ways in the A-League, with Bobo's double and Manny Muscat's calamitous defending giving the Sky Blues a 3-1 win over 10-man Melbourne City.

Muscat was sent off between Nick Fitzgerald's equalising wonder-goal and Brandon O'Neill's fine free kick at AAMI Park in front of 10,706 people.

Sydney's success over snapped any suggestion of a late-season fade-out after last week's derby loss.

It also places Graham Arnold's side on the edge of premiership glory.

Lisa De Vanna given one-match suspension for W-League attack

Canberra's Lisa De Vanna
Lisa De Vanna has been handed a one-match ban by the FFA.

Matildas co-captain Lisa De Vanna was hit with a one-match suspension for an incident in a W-League semifinal earlier this month.

The Canberra United forward was cited by Football Federation Australia (FFA) nine days after charging into the back of Melbourne City's Jess Fishlock in an off-the-ball attack that was missed by the match officials.

De Vanna pleaded guilty to the charge of "Serious Unsporting Conduct" and nine days after being chraged, FFA's independent disciplinary and ethics committee...

Australian midfielder Tim Cahill
With many of Australia's strikers struggling for game time, the Socceroos may once again have to rely on Tim Cahill.

Socceroos talisman Tim Cahill says he's ready to lead Australia's line in next month's World Cup qualifiers.

With Jamie Maclaren's international career in its infancy, Matthew Leckie enduring a protracted national team goal drought, Apostolos Giannou, Robbie Kruse and Nathan Burns all out of season it's likely that Cahill will play the role of Australia's frontman against Iraq and the United Arab Emirates.

And it's a task the 37-year-old, all-time Socceroos leading goalscorer says he's up for.

Melbourne City's Tim Cahill fires broadside at defensive Sydney FC

Melbourne City midfielder Tim Cahill
Tim Cahill reckons Sydney FC are not at their best after their first A-League loss of the season.

Sydney FC's unbeaten A-League run is over and Tim Cahill senses vulnerability.

Melbourne City's marquee man believes his side have drawn a perfect time to play the Sky Blues when they meet on Friday night.

City bounced back to winning ways with a 5-1 demolition of the Wellington Phoenix on the same day that Sydney's unbeaten run ended with a 1-0 loss to the Western Sydney Wanderers.

City also boast a winning record over Graham Arnold's side courtesy of their FFA Cup final success in November.
