Sunderland boss Chris Coleman will make late checks on Adam Matthews and Ovie Ejaria ahead of Saturday's Sky Bet Championship clash with Middlesbrough.

Full-back Matthews missed Tuesday night's 1-0 defeat at Bolton with a hamstring injury, but trained on Thursday and has a chance, while loan signing Ejaria has sat out the last two games with a thigh problem and remains a doubt.

However, defender Marc Wilson and winger Kazenga LuaLua are still out, while midfielder Darron Gibson is ahead of schedule...

Having bemoaned his side's limp attacking efforts in their weekend defeat to Cardiff, Middlesbrough manager Tony Pulis will have been delighted with a much brighter display inspired...

Cardiff moved back into the Championship automatic promotion places with a 1-0 victory over Middlesbrough.

Bluebirds skipper Sean Morrison headed the winner after 34 minutes to seal all three points at the Cardiff City Stadium.

The hosts' fourth win in six matches was enough to move above Derby, not in action this weekend, and Aston Villa, who were beaten by Fulham.

Middlesborough fell to 10th in the table and are now four points adrift of the play-off places.

Chances were hard to come by for both teams...

Adama Traore struck a delightful double to help deliver Middlesbrough a much-needed 2-1 victory over struggling Reading.

The Royals, who had lost three of their last four in the league, lacked a cutting edge until deep in the second half and manager Jaap Stam had to endure defeat again at the Riverside.

Middlesbrough had been far from convincing themselves and had struggled to test Royals goalkeeper Vito Mannone until Traore hit the opener with a minute remaining before the break.

Within a few minutes...

German midfielder Tom Trybull celebrated signing a new contract by scoring the winning goal as Norwich beat 10-man Middlesbrough 1-0 at Carrow Road.

Having put pen to paper on three-and-a-half deal on the morning of the game, Trybull drilled home what proved to be the only goal of the game a minute before the interval.

By that time Boro were playing one short, having lost striker Rudy Gestede just before the half-hour mark for a crude lunge on Grant Hanley in the centre circle, and they never seriously...
