Liga MX W2W4: Atlas could clinch playoff spot at archrival Chivas

Atlas and Chivas have a fierce rivalry but only Atlas have the added incentive of playing for a Liguilla spot this weekend.

Ahead of this weekend's action, ESPN FC's Liga MX writers Tom Marshall, Nayib Moran and Eric Gomez look ahead to some of the league's biggest matchups and storylines.

Chivas vs. Atlas

It has to be Chivas against Atlas and not just because I'm based in Guadalajara!

This is an absolutely crucial game for the playoffs, with Chivas virtually out of the picture while a win for Atlas would basically secure them a spot in the postseason. You can't imagine trophy-starved Atlas, who won their only...

Liga MX Talking Point: Which teams will miss out on the Liguilla?

"As part of his European tour, our president, Jesus Martinez, and our sporting director, Marco Garces, visited PSG's facilities," a Pachuca statement on...

Pachuca owner slams Mexico TV rights deal over lack of transparency

Sebastian Salazar and Herculez Gomez react to Liga MX's response in wake of the recent earthquake in Mexico.

Pachuca owner Jesus Martinez has fiercely criticized the Mexican federation's recent deal to grant Televisa and TV Azteca television rights until after the 2026 World Cup.

Martinez was one of four Liga MX owners to vote against the deal, with the club president suggesting in an interview with ESPN on Tuesday that the Mexican federation (FMF) could have gotten much better terms.

There had been a separate and, according to various reports, more lucrative proposal from a joint bid from NBC Universal/Telemundo...

Monterrey still top, Leon rapidly rising Liga MX Power Rankings

If Monterrey keep winning, they have to be considered Liguilla favorites, though there's a long way to go.

If the Liguilla started tomorrow, Monterrey would be the favorite to win it all. But in Liga MX, the unpredictable is always an option, and clubs such as Xolos, Leon, Cruz Azul or even Necaxa can end up making deep runs.

October will be an important month in defining which clubs will best arrive come Liguilla time.

Here are Week 12's Liga MX Power Rankings:

1. MONTERREY  (no change)
Monterrey still has games against Pachuca, America and Tigres. Those are the games in which Monterrey's...
