Live pig smuggled into crowd at Palmeiras match in Brazil

A Palmeiras supporter somehow snuck a pig inside the stadium for Palmeiras' match against Atletico GO.

Despite football stadium security being tighter than ever, one intrepid Palmeiras fan still managed to smuggle a live creature into Saturday's Brazilian top-tier clash with Atletico GO.

Indeed, the supporter somehow sneaked his pig through the turnstiles at the Estadio Olimpico Pedro Ludovico and was subsequently photographed proudly holding his porcine pal aloft in the terraces.

The little chap is a ball-hog, in a very literal sense.

Palmeiras fan dead after violent clash with Corinthians supporters

A fan was stabbed to death in the aftermath of Palmeiras' 2-0 loss to arch-rival Corinthians on Thursday.

SAO PAULO -- A fan of Brazilian club Palmeiras has died of stab wounds after a fight with Corinthians supporters following a match between the two Sao Paulo teams.

It's the second violent death of a Brazilian football fan in less than a week.

The dead man was identified by Sao Paulo hospital officials as Leandro de Paula. He died early Thursday, shortly after Corinthians had defeated Palmeiras 2-0.

Vitinho will spend the preseason with Barcelona's first team.

Barcelona have completed the signing of 19-year-old Palmeiras attacking midfielder Vitinho on a one-year loan deal with an option to buy, the Catalan club confirmed on Tuesday.

Vitor Hugo signs for Fiorentina in switch from Palmeiras

Vitor Hugo (heading the ball) has arrived from from Palmeiras.

Fiorentina have replaced the departing Gonzalo Rodriguez by signing Brazilian defender Vitor Hugo from Palmeiras.

Vitor Hugo, 26, signed a four-year contract at the Stadio Artemio Franchi just over a week after Rodriguez made his last appearance in a 2-2 Serie A draw with Pescara.

Rodriguez is now a free agent after opting against extending his contract in Tuscany.
