Port Vale have Kjell Knops and Sam Hart available again for the visit of Northampton.

The defenders missed the 4-0 FA Cup win over Hartlepool through suspension and are not guaranteed to go straight back into the starting line-up after the Valiants swept into the third round.

Vale's injury problems persist with only forward Jerome Thomas (hamstring) looking likely to have a chance of returning this weekend.

Martin Paterson, Sam Foley, Anton Forrester and Ben Purkiss are still out as Bruno Ribeiro's...

Port Vale secured a spot in the third round of the FA Cup as they ran out comfortable 4-0 winners against Sky Bet League Two Hartlepool at Vale Park.

An own goal from Jake Carroll, sandwiched between strikes from Rigino Cicilia and Alex Jones put Vale well ahead at the break before Ryan Taylor's second-half penalty sealed a convincing victory.

Hartlepool's misery was compounded when manager Craig Hignett was sent to the stands on the stroke of half-time after taking issue with an alleged stamp by Kiko...

Sky Bet League One's bottom club Shrewsbury picked up a point from a 0-0 draw at home to Port Vale.

Both teams had chances in a tight first half, with the best opportunity for the hosts side falling to Junior Brown, who fired over after goalkeeper Jak Alnwick blocked an effort from Vale old boy AJ Leitch-Smith.

Ivan Toney also flicked a low cross from Louis Dodds just wide as Shrewsbury pushed for a breakthrough.

Vale's best effort saw a 20-yard drive from Sam Kelly turned away by home keeper Jayson...

Substitute Carl Winchester's stoppage-time equaliser rescued a point for Oldham as they drew 2-2 with Port Vale at Vale Park.

A fortuitous deflection from Ollie Banks' free-kick had given League One's lowest scorers the lead but goals from Remie Streete and Rigino Cicilia put the Valiants ahead, before Winchester's late strike.

The visitors, who are now winless in their last five league games, broke the deadlock after 48 minutes when Banks' 20-yard shot struck the Valiants' wall and curled past the...

Port Vale's Anthony Grant was also fined £2,000.

Port Vale midfielder Anthony Grant has been handed an additional five-game ban and fined £2,000 following his recent dismissal against Fleetwood.

Grant was sent off for a second yellow card in the 89th minute by referee John Brooks in Vale's 2-1 home win on Nov. 12 and went back on to the pitch to remonstrate with the official after the final whistle.

He served a one-game suspension when sitting out Saturday's defeat at Charlton, but will now be unavailable until the home game against Walsall...
