Port Vale have announced their Sky Bet League One clash with MK Dons has been postponed.

The game was called off by the referee following a pitch inspection on Saturday morning.

A statement on the club's official website read: "The referee has made the decision this morning to postpone our League One game with MK Dons.

"Yesterday afternoon, a pitch inspection had been called for 9am and unfortunately the referee has deemed the pitch unplayable.

Midfielders Chris Eagles and Callum Guy could make their Port Vale debuts in the Sky Bet League One home clash with MK Dons on Saturday.

Sam Hart made 16 appearances on loan at Port Vale.

Liverpool youngster Sam Hart has returned to the club following a loan spell at Port Vale.

Hart, 20, joined the League One side on a season-long loan deal in the summer and went on to make 16 appearances.

However, his stay at Vale Park has been cut short and he will now return to Merseyside.

Port Vale tweeted: "We would like to thank and wish Sam all the best for the future."

Jack Payne scored twice as Huddersfield ended a run of six cup matches without a win with a 4-0 victory over Port Vale.

Payne, signed from Southend last summer, took his tally for the season to three with the first and last goals after Kasey Palmer and Harry Bunn also found the net.

While Town's first cup win since they beat Chesterfield in the Capital One Cup in August 2014 rarely looked in doubt, it took them until the latter stages of the game to secure their place in the FA Cup fourth-round draw.
