Preston North End fine Eoin Doyle, Jermaine Beckford after in-fighting

Jermaine Beckford and Eoin Doyle were sent off for fighting amongst themselves.

Preston North End have fined Jermaine Beckford and Eoin Doyle following their dismissals for fighting between themselves during Saturday's defeat at Sheffield Wednesday and will use the money to refund the club's travelling fans.

Beckford and teammate Doyle were both shown straight red cards by referee Scott Duncan in stoppage-time following an angry exchange, and furious manager Simon Grayson promised disciplinary action for both players after his side's 2-1 loss.

Ten-man Sheffield Wednesday fought hard for their 2-1 victory over a wasteful Preston side in a bad-tempered clash.

The hosts took an early lead early through Fernando Forestieri. In an eventful second half, Forestieri was sent off. Steven Fletcher converted a penalty to make it 2-0 and Eoin Doyle then pulled one back for the visitors late on. The game ended on a sour note, with team-mates Doyle and Jermaine Beckford seeing red as well after an angry exchange between the pair.

The Owls created the...

Preston came from behind against Burton to salvage a point in a 1-1 draw in the first ever meeting between the two sides.

Callum Robinson drew Preston level just before half-time after Jackson Irvine had fired Burton in front.

It means Burton remain without an away win in the Championship, but their boss Nigel Clough has still never lost a game against Preston.

Burton had not scored an away goal for 406 minutes, but came close twice early on when Ben Turner thumped a header against the bar from from...

Paul Lambert's first game in charge of Wolves ended in a 0-0 draw against Preston at Deepdale.

After a lifeless first half, Preston had the better of the chances in the second, with Simon Makienok and Jordan Hugill passing up great opportunities to take all three points for the hosts.

It is a year ago this weekend since Lambert took charge of his first game as Blackburn manager, a 2-1 win at Deepdale, but there was no such luck this time around.

The draw means Preston have lost just one of their last...
