Bayern Munich sign American Taylor Booth, 17, from Real Salt Lake's academy

Former Chelsea midfielder Craig Burley says if he was Callum Hudson-Odoi, he would take the chance and go to Bayern Munich if they want him.

Bayern Munich have signed American teenager Taylor Booth from Real Salt Lake's academy, the club announced on Thursday.

Booth, 17, will join the defending Bundesliga champions on a three-and-a-half-year deal.

"We see a lot of potential in Taylor. He is a talented young player, and we look forward to working with him to develop his talent further," Bayern campus manager Jochen Sauer said on the team's website.

Booth will join Bayern's under-19s to start his career at the club.

Expansion side FC Cincinnati selected UCLA midfielder Frankie Amaya No. 1 overall in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft on Friday.

"This is what I worked my whole life for," Amaya told MLSSoccer.com at the draft in Chicago. "This is a crazy moment."

Amaya, 18, is the youngest player in the draft, but his upside is such that he's expected to adapt well to the professional game, even in a central playmaking role that is usually the domain of foreign players.

Real Salt Lake extends Albert Rusnak's contract through 2021 season

Albert Rusnak signed a contract extension that will keep him with RSL through 2021.

Real Salt Lake ended the final full week of 2018 with a flurry on Friday, making a series of moves both on and off the pitch.

First, the club announced an agreement with midfielder Albert Rusnak on a contract extension through the 2021 season. According to a report in October on MLSsoccer.com, the contract will be worth close to $2 million per season. That would likely more than double the $907,280 he made in 2018.
