Sheffield Wednesday part ways with coach Stuart Gray

Hired in January of 2014, Stuart Gray is now out at Sheffield Wednesday.

Sheffield Wednesday have parted company with head coach Stuart Gray.

Chairman Dejphon Chansiri told the club's official website: "This is not a decision I have taken lightly but one that I believe is in the best interests of our club ahead of the 2015-16 season.

"The club will be taking a new direction next season and it is my belief that the appointment of a new head coach will help achieve my desire of bringing Premier League football back to Hillsborough.

"I would like to thank Stuart for his...

Watford were denied the Championship title after a last-gasp Atdhe Nuhiu equaliser earned Sheffield Wednesday a 1-1 draw at Vicarage Road to ensure Bournemouth were crowned champions.

Having secured promotion last week following a 2-0 victory at Brighton, and subsequent results involving Middlesbrough and Norwich City going their way, the Hornets knew they simply had to match or better what the Cherries achieved at Charlton Athletic to go up as champions.

One goal from Matej Vydra - his 16th of the...

Leeds United ran out 2-1 winners against Sheffield Wednesday in a hotly contested Yorkshire derby at Hillsborough.

The visitors had to come from behind to win after Chris Maguire's controversial first half penalty. However, second half goals from Charlie Taylor and Steve Morison ensured Leeds claimed their first win in six matches.

The visitors started the game well, with Morison capitalising on a loose ball on the edge of the box, only to drag his shot just short of the near post.

The match had all...

A last-gasp penalty from Chris Maguire saw Sheffield Wednesday earn a 2-2 draw which kept Bournemouth off the top of the Championship table as the race for promotion took another twist.

A goal down to Kieran Lee's fine header, Bournemouth looked to have pulled off a memorable comeback as Matt Ritchie crossed for Yann Kermorgant and then drilled home a stunning long-range effort himself either side of Simon Francis' red card.

And the home fans, who had seen Middlesbrough overtake them with victory on...

Sheffield Wednesday claimed all three points against Sky Bet Championship play-off hopefuls Brentford with a 1-0 win thanks to Kieran Lee's second-half goal.

With both teams playing with high defensive lines at Hillsborough there were a high number of long balls attempted by each side but, with few finding their mark, the game produced nothing of note for the vast majority of the first half.

It took until the 35th minute for a decent chance to present itself when a whipped cross found Caolan Lavery...
