Rangers brought the curtain down on their four-year journey through the lower leagues with another disappointing result as they were held to a 2-2 draw by St Mirren in Paisley.

The Light Blues had failed to win any of their three previous games since wrapping up their Championship crown but threw away victory in their final game of the season when they allowed Saints sub Lewis Morgan to level at the death.

Former Gers youngster Calum Gallagher fired the Buddies ahead just before half-time but that...

Riyad Mahrez once quit St Mirren trial after 'abuse' of Scottish weather

Leicester City playmaker Riyad Mahrez says he once quit a trial with St Mirren because the weather in Scotland felt like "abuse."

Before joining Leicester in 2014, the Algeria international began his career in the French amateur ranks, so he was excited to get a trial with the Scottish club.

But after initially excelling in friendlies, Mahrez told L'Equipe that things did not go as planned and he even had to sneak out of the club hotel.

"An agent, Jean Evina, told me he had trial for me...

Dumbarton secured Scottish Championship survival after coming from behind to beat St Mirren 2-1 at the Cheaper Insurance Direct Stadium.

Forward Callum Gallagher fired Saints ahead in the 10th minute, drilling his effort into the corner from the edge of the area.

Steve Saunders came close to an immediate leveller before the home side did equalise five minutes before half-time, with Keith Watson deflecting a cross into his own net.

Paul Heffernan missed a great opportunity to put Dumbarton in front when...

Calum Gallagher and Stephen Mallan scored second-half goals to earn St Mirren the points in a 3-1 win over Morton in the Scottish Championship.

The Buddies had been on course for a routine win after Lawrence Shankland's 10th goal of the season put them ahead early on when he struck into the top corner from distance.

But Morton hauled themselves level in the 58th minute when Denny Johnstone fired into the bottom corner from the edge of the area.

That parity was short-lived, though, as Gallagher stroked...

Blair Alston netted a last-minute winner as Falkirk strengthened their prospects of finishing as Scottish Championship runners-up by beating St Mirren 3-2 at home.

Alston converted his 11th goal of the season - and third in four games - with a back-post finish as the Bairns claimed a first victory in three attempts.

Lee Miller had headed Falkirk into a ninth-minute lead after Jack Baird directed Myles Hippolyte's cross into his path, with the latter having a goal ruled out for offside just after the...
