Ryan Hardie scored a late double as Raith beat bottom side St Mirren 2-0 to end their 15-game winless run in the Ladbrokes Championship.

Rovers were forced to field midfielder Ryan Stevenson in goal in last week's 1-0 defeat by Ayr but there was no such drama on Wednesday night as new signing Pavol Penksa took the gloves.

A St Mirren win would have moved the strugglers to within three points of their hosts but those hopes were dashed when Hardie headed home Bobby Barr's cross on 74 minutes.

Celtic survived a scare in their William Hill Scottish Cup tie against St Mirren before booking a semi-final place with an emphatic 4-1 win at Parkhead.

Buddies centre-back Harry Davis stunned the Hoops support with his goal from close range in the 13th minute and only the crossbar prevented the Championship's bottom side doubling that lead in the 53rd minute.

The runaway Ladbrokes Premiership leaders had laboured but two goals in quick succession through right-back Mikael Lustig and forward Scott...

St Mirren defied their lowly Ladbrokes Championship status by defeating Dundee 2-0 in the William Hill Scottish Cup fourth round at Dens Park.

Jack Ross' struggling side were the surprise winners on Tayside thanks to goals in either half from striker John Sutton and defender Jack Baird.

Saints have had a tough season up until now but forgot about being seven points adrift at the foot of the Championship to leave Paul Hartley's Premiership hopefuls deflated.

Dundee United were forced to fight back from behind to sink rock-bottom St Mirren 2-1 and move to the top of the Scottish Championship.

The visitors grabbed a shock 27th-minute lead through John Sutton, but their advantage was immediately ruled out by Scott Fraser's equaliser.

The hosts' pressure paid off in first-half injury time when Simon Murray headed home a Fraser set-piece to put them in front.

Murray, Sean Dillon and Coll Donaldson all had chances to increase the home side's lead as they dominated...

Dunfermline heaped more misery on basement boys St Mirren with a 1-0 Ladbrokes Championship win at St Mirren Park.

The hosts rued a missed Lewis Morgan header early in the first half as Nicky Clark pounced on a weak Lee Ashcroft effort to slot home and give the Pars a half-time lead.

Farid El Alagui had a chance to equalise after getting on the end of Kallum Higginbotham's cross, but he could only head wide, with Stephen Mallan also shooting straight at visiting goalkeeper Sean Murdoch as the hosts...
