Darren Fletcher off day stunts profligate West Brom vs. Liverpool

Tony Pulis rued West Brom's inability to convert chances in their defeat to Liverpool.

West Brom fell to their third consecutive loss, and their fourth game in a row without scoring, with a 1-0 defeat against Liverpool at The Hawthorns on Sunday.

Tony Pulis' side were once again wasteful in front of goal, missing three gilt-edged chances at crucial points in the contest, although Liverpool could have also put the game out of sight early in the second half when some of West Brom's forward players neglected their defensive duties in search of an equaliser.

WEST BROMWICH, England -- Three thoughts on Liverpool's 1-0 win at West Brom in the Premier League.

1. Top-four finish looms ever larger for Liverpool

First Stoke, now West Brom. In successive weeks, Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool have negotiated two of the Premier League's toughest destinations to collect six points that keep them in third place, two points ahead of Manchester City.

"We've got Tony Pulis," home fans had sung in the opening minutes, as if to signal what type of occasion this would be....

West Brom blanked in loss to Southampton, continue week-long skid

Jordy Clasie's lone goal and Fraser Forster's stout goalkeeping sealed back-to-back Premier League wins for Southampton.

A run of three games in a week ended with West Brom succumbing to a 1-0 loss against Southampton at The Hawthorns on Saturday, meaning that Tony Pulis' side failed to score in any of their three games in that week-long period.

After a tremendous run of home form, West Brom has lost two of its past three fixtures at The Hawthorns, which suggests that teams may now have a game plan in place to combat the main threats of Pulis' team.

Exhausted West Brom crash back to earth in 2-0 defeat to Watford

A combination of poor marking and not converting their chances led to defeat for West Brom according to Tony Pulis.

After a tremendous rear-guard action at Old Trafford to earn a 0-0 draw, West Brom were brought back down to earth with a crash as they put in a lacklustre performance in a 2-0 loss to Watford at Vicarage Road on Tuesday.

Tony Pulis' side appeared to be exhausted both mentally and physically, with some uncharacteristically poor defensive play allowing Watford a couple of opportunities they took full advantage of.

Jonny Evans, West Brom's organised defence stifles Manchester United

West Brom put in a defensive masterclass against Manchester United at Old Trafford to secure a 0-0 draw. While Jose Mourinho criticised West Brom after the game, there will surely be a part of him that, begrudgingly, respected the discipline and organisation of the defensive effort put in by Tony Pulis' side. It was a fantastic start to a week which contains three fixtures, that could potentially take West Brom to their record Premier League tally.
