For a long while throughout the summer, the transfer speculation surrounding West Brom's Saido Berahino looked like it would remain just that. It was only in the final two weeks of the window that Tottenham made their move for the England under-21 forward, and things have been tumultuous ever since for the Baggies.

Ultimately, a deal couldn't be done, and Berahino still remains at the club. But it isn't as cut and dried as that, as shown in his tweet on the final hour of the transfer deadline.

Saido Berahino has been given extra time off by West Brom following a blocked move to Tottenham, Press Association Sport reports.

Berahino, 22, will not have to report back for training until Monday, while the rest of his teammates are due back on Friday.

It is reported the England Under-21 international is set to be disciplined and, although no official meeting is planned, he is likely to speak to head coach Tony Pulis at some point.
