Arsenal overcame a sluggish start and got Arsene Wenger's farewell tour off to a great start with a 4-1 win over West Ham at the Emirates.

LONDON -- Three quick thoughts on Arsenal's 4-1 win over West Ham as fans got their first chance to say goodbye to Arsene Wenger.

1. Wenger's long goodbye begins with a win

It took a while to come to life, with the shock of Arsene Wenger's impending departure perhaps stunning the Arsenal fans into silence, but the first game in the Frenchman's long goodbye as manager ended in victory as West Ham's survival hopes suffered a dent at the Emirates.

The 4-1 winning scoreline flattered Arsenal, with three...

West Ham chief Karren Brady plugs new TV show as team kicks off vs. Stoke

Not for the first time, Karren Brady incurred the wrath of West Ham fans with an ill-timed tweet published on Monday evening.

Just 15 minutes before the Hammers were due to kick off their Monday night TV game against Stoke City at the London Stadium, the club's executive vice-chairman forewent any comment on the game to instead remind her followers to watch her new television series, which started at the same time on UK channel ITV.

Of course, Brady's tweet was met with a barrage of incredulous...

LONDON -- Three points from Stamford Bridge on Chelsea's 1-1 derby draw with West Ham in the Premier League.

1. Chelsea pegged back

This was another two points dropped for Chelsea -- which will be particularly frustrating for home supporters because their side should have been out of sight by half-time. Their attacking play was bright and only a lack of ruthlessness hampered them: Alvaro Morata had two goals disallowed for offside -- both correct decisions, but he might have timed his runs better...

West Ham beat Southampton but aren't safe from relegation yet

Marko Arnautovic scored twice as West Ham used a dominant first half to get the better of Southampton in a clash of relegation-threatened sides.

LONDON -- About half an hour before West Ham's home game against Southampton, one steward at the London Stadium nodded to another. "Any trouble?" he asked a little nervously. His colleague shook his head as if to say, 'No, it's been fine so far.' Around the ground, the atmosphere seemed quiet, apprehensive about what was to come.

Strung around the side of the pitch were 56 extra stewards, facing the crowd. Many, if not all, were wearing football boots -- a rare bit of shrewd, forward planning...

West Ham defender Patrice Evra dresses up as the Easter Bunny

As part of his continued bid to spread positive vibes throughout the world, Patrice Evra made a special effort to meet some very special little people this week.

The West Ham full-back (that still sounds a bit strange) travelled down to Newham University Hospital in London to hand out loads of Easter treats and spend some quality time on the children's ward.

This being Evra, it probably goes without saying that he did so while wearing a giant bunny costume.

"What a day! I just want to say thanks...

David Silva, Man City reach new heights; chaos envelops West Ham

The Exploding Heads recap an eventful March which included West Ham and Arsenal's struggles, Neymar's social media tribute and more.
The FC crew discuss David Silva's starring performance against Stoke, arguing his consistency in Manchester City's midfield is unmatched.
The ESPN FC guys debate whether Mohamed Salah's current season for Liverpool has been better than Luis Suarez's in 2013/14.
The ESPN crew count down Paul Mariner's best ten goals from March's international friendlies.

Yeah, yeah, we know that March hasn't ended. But ahead of a weekend that could make enough headlines to last a month, we decided to get our review in early!

Who won the month? Manchester City (or, specifically, the mere prospect of playing them)

The quadruple -- and domestic treble -- is now gone, but the response in March was to restore all order. Arsenal were swept aside 3-0 for the second time in the space of four days, while Stoke were disposed of with minimal fuss. In between, there was...
