Alvaro Cejudo to miss Wanderers' FFA Cup clash with Wellington

Former Real Betis winger Alvaro Cejudo will have to wait to make his Wanderers debut.

New marquee man Alvaro Cejudo will be kept on ice for Western Sydney's FFA Cup tie with Wellington on Tuesday night.

The Wanderers host the New Zealanders at Campbelltown Stadium in the first all-A-League meeting in this year's competition.

Coach Tony Popovic said Alvaro would be one of three players to miss the clash, along with Jaushua Sotirio and Mark Bridge.

"Alvaro has just arrived, Joshy is suspended and Bridgey, we're still waiting on a few details," he said.

Western Sydney Wanderers have announced the exit of Spanish defender Aritz Borda from the A-League club by mutual consent.

Borda linked up with the Wanderers in July 2016 and made his debut in the FFA Cup before going on to make 19 appearances in all competitions.

The 32-year-old journeyman is rumoured to be joining Indian Super League side FC Goa.

Borda's departure opens up another visa spot for coach Tony Popovic to fill, with the Wanderers already active in the transfer market.

Alvaro Cejudo, 33, is the fifth and final foreign-born player to join the Western Sydney Wanderers.

Western Sydney have signed veteran Spanish attacker Alvaro Cejudo as the club's second marquee A-League recruit.

The 33-year-old winger is a former teammate of the Wanderers' other marquee man, striker Oriol Riera, with the two having spent a season together at Osasuna in 2013-14.

Their chemistry will be crucial as the new-look Wanderers seek to become an A-League force again after crashing out of the finals series at the first hurdle.

South African Premier Soccer League side Maritzburg United have secured the signature of Australian junior international Liam Youlley, the club confirmed on their official website.
