Ravel Morrison must seal Wigan loan by Jan. 27 to face Man United

Paul Mariner and Ross Dyer make their predictions for which teams will grab the top four spots in the Premier League.

Ravel Morrison has until the end of next week to earn the chance to face former club Manchester United by securing a loan move to Wigan Athletic from Lazio.

Morrison, 23, is currently training with Championship club Wigan after being told he has no future with Lazio.

Wigan manager Warren Joyce, previously Morrison's reserve team boss at United, has given the midfielder the opportunity to resurrect his career at the DW Stadium following his failure to make an impact in Serie A.

Nineteen-year-old Callum Connolly was the hero for Championship strugglers Wigan after he scored two headers on his debut to send Burton to a fourth successive home league defeat.

The Everton youngster only linked up with Warren Joyce's side ahead of the game and instantly repaid the faith of his manager by securing the Latics their first League win since the end of November with coolly taken headers either side of half time.

Having kept his side in the game twice during the first half with vital interventions,...

Wigan booked their place in round four of the FA Cup with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Nottingham Forest at the DW Stadium.

Goals in either half from Will Grigg and Yanic Wildschut were enough to see off a poor Forest side, who were second best for the vast majority of the encounter.

The visitors even squandered a gilt-edged opportunity to get back into the game when they were awarded a penalty with nine minutes remaining.

Latics goalkeeper Jakob Haugaard, who had joined on loan from Stoke just...

Stoke City goalkeeper Jakob Haugaard set for loan move to Wigan - source

Third-choice Stoke goalkeeper Jakob Haugaard is nearing a loan move to Wigan, according to an FC source.

Stoke City goalkeeper Jakob Haugaard has agreed a deal to join Wigan Athletic on loan, sources close to Wigan have told ESPN FC.

The 24-year-old joined Stoke in the summer of 2015 as the club's third-choice keeper to replace fellow Dane Thomas Sorensen.

Haugaard made his debut last January in a FA Cup tie against Doncaster and after an injury to their No. 1 keeper Jack Butland he was thrust into the starting XI in the Premier League, making five appearances at the back end of last season.

The former...

Wigan confirm Ravel Morrison training with team ahead of possible move

Ravel Morrison has not played for Lazio this season.

Former Manchester United and West Ham midfielder Ravel Morrison is training with Wigan ahead of a possible move to the Championship club, Latics boss Warren Joyce has confirmed.

The talented 23-year-old has not played a single game for Italian side Lazio this term and has linked up with one of his former coaches at United, where he was viewed as one of the most exciting prospects for generations.

Off-field issues prevented Morrison from making the grade at Old Trafford and a promising spell at West...
