Will Grigg came off the bench to bag a brace and prevent 2013 FA Cup winners Wigan from being bundled out at the second-round stage of this year's competition as they edged out non-league AFC Fylde 3-2.

Grigg's goal in the first game at Mill Farm earlier this month had been cancelled out by Danny Rowe, meaning a replay at the DW Stadium.

And Rowe's 64th-minute goal here had threatened an even bigger shock, having nosed Fylde into a 2-1 lead their enterprise had probably warranted.

But Grigg was on hand...

Goals from Nick Powell and Dan Burn ensured Wigan Athletic comfortably overcame the challenge of Fleetwood Town to record a 2-0 win at the DW Stadium and cement their position on top of Sky Bet League One.

It was a thoroughly miserable afternoon for Town boss Uwe Rosler, who was making his first return to the DW Stadium since being relieved of his duties as Wigan boss in November 2014.

The home side took only seven minutes to get into their stride, with Powell on hand to nod home a delightful cross...

Rowe penalty helps non-league AFC Fylde force replay with Wigan

Non-league AFC Fylde held neighbours Wigan to a 1-1 draw with a Danny Rowe penalty forcing the 2013 winners to a replay.

Rowe's 70th-minute spot-kick cancelled out Will Grigg's first-half header to keep the National League side in the hat for Monday's third-round draw.

Wigan dominated the first half, Grigg nodding onto the bar and Gavin Massey coming close.

But Northern Ireland international Grigg put the visitors ahead when he flicked Nathan Byrne's ball into the far corner.

Wigan powered to the top of the League One table with a comfortable 3-1 win over Rotherham.

The Latics had a stranglehold on the points from the half hour mark as they swapped places with Shrewsbury.

Wigan were ahead after 14 minutes with Will Grigg glancing in Lee Evans' near-post free-kick.

It stung Rotherham into action and they levelled just two minutes later with David Ball curling in a stunning effort from the edge of the box.

The visitors responded with several dangerous crosses pumped into the...

Ryan Colclough scores brace, subs off, makes mad dash to hospital for birth

Wigan Athelic's 3-0 League One win over Doncaster Rovers on Tuesday night was an extra special one for winger Ryan Colclough.

The 22-year old was in fine form at the DW Stadium, bagging a brace to set the Latics on course for victory before being substituted on the hour mark as his partner had gone into labour.

"At half-time we got the message that his missus' waters had broken, his second child," Wigan assistant Leam Richardson told Wigan Today.

"As soon as the second goal he was off the pitch,...
