Swansea City see off York City in Capital One Cup

Swansea celebrate taking the lead through Nathan Dyer.

Swansea eased into the third round of the Capital One Cup with a 3-0 victory over York at the Liberty Stadium.

Garry Monk made 11 changes from the side which drew at Sunderland on Saturday but Swansea's second-string still had too much class for their League Two opponents.

Nathan Dyer, who scored twice in the Wembley final against Bradford when Swansea won the competition in 2013, set them on their way inside two minutes as York appeared overawed on the big stage.

Exeter and York played out an uninspiring goalless draw in a game of very few chances at St James Park.

A scrappy start to the game was punctuated by an injury to Stephane Zubar, which saw him carried off, while a clash of heads between Exeter's Troy Brown and Vadane Oliver of York led to another lengthy delay.

In fact, there wasn't a shot at goal in a half that was lacking in chances as well as quality, although Exeter had the better of the possession and looked the more likely to create something.

Yeovil old boy James Berrett scored the only goal of the game against his former club to give York their first points of the season.

Berrett, who moved from Huish Park to North Yorkshire in the summer, grabbed a deflected 63rd-minute winner to condemn his former club to a sixth straight defeat.

A poor first half saw few chances at either end with York only posing a threat during the latter stages.

On 40 minutes, former on-loan Minsterman Artur Krysiak had to be alert to smother a six-yard Stephane...

Hartlepool's perfect start to the season continued with a third straight victory following their 2-1 triumph at York City.

Michael Woods' deflected winner secured the points for last season's Sky Bet League Two strugglers after Billy Paynter's third goal of the new campaign cancelled out Reece Thompson's opener for the Minstermen.

An entertaining first half saw both keepers make excellent saves to keep their teams on level terms.

York keeper Scott Flinders was quick off his line to deny Rakish Bingham,...

Josh Carson sent York City through to the second round of the Capital One Cup against Bradford with the winning penalty in a 4-2 shoot-out victory.

The Minstermen's Keith Lowe, James Berrett and Reece Thompson also converted, while home keeper Scott Flinders saved from Christopher Routis and Tony McMahon.

James Hanson and Josh Morris did successfully convert but that will be of little consolation for the Bantams after the score had ended 2-2 after extra-time.

Bradford had earlier opened the scoring...
